I am new to feeding my babies raw (Beandip and whitekittylover really helped)...We are almost completely kibble free(with Minnie). Cyclopes turns his nose up to kibble
Minnie has been a little stubborn
..I don't know if you have access to Wild Kitty but they love it and it comes in a little plastic bowl and I spilt one bowl(it is for perfect for their age and weight) between the two for a meal, its really easy. They didn't eat natures variety (my dog does)...Hope some of this is helpful!!

i feel badly the past two days i've been a slacker getting luxor's raw medallions out...i can tell he hasn't had as much raw because his poop was smelling again.

i can't believe Dory, I'd have scrapped it by now.

I forgot to thaw any raw last night. Wait, lemme rephrase that. I didn't want to get out raw & then wawsh my dry cracked hands again. So, Damita got canned for breakfast & I've got raw thawing now.

so now - Luxor is on more raw than venison and pea and doing well....... luckily he doesn't poop or pee on any medallions......

what is dory trying to say? luxor is very into the raw. . . stoli smells it and pretends there is nothing in the dish....i don't care about that anyway - he's on fortiflora and his wellness. . .keep it consistant.

Dory is a stinker! He still elminates on a raw medallion!
Damita is up to eating raw medallions beaten in the blender with some salmon oil drops on them. Hopefully soon she'll eat a straight medallion!

I'm glad Damita and Luxor are making progress...that's great.

As much as I'm going through the chicken/turkey, I just went ahead and got the 8oz patties again. I picked up some Beef, too...and they ate it, but I can tell that chick/turk is still the winner.

I can barely do anything with that bag of rabbit, though. I've been putting them out for the outside cats and they pick at them. They only get eaten if that's ALL I put out for them. I drenched them with chicken livers and "blood" tonight...and I came back and found the rabbit left on the plate with all the blood and livers missing.

At least nobody pees or poops on the rabbit.

Funny thing, Pixel hasn't been all that enthused about the raw, since maybe the 2nd night we tried any. But the other day I put some out for Beandip...but he had already filled up on dry
... I came back 20 min later and Pixel was there licking the plate. They all want what they can't have....it must've tasted better since it belonged to Beandip.
Since then, she's been eating it every time I offer her some. Silly cats.

How's everyone doing?

I have a litte progress to report. Beandip seems to prefer beef now. I have to say it looks more appetizing that the chicken/turkey...something about the texture. I can pull it apart into "bites" whereas the chick/turk gets a little more messy/squishy/bloody. He likes to scoot his food to the edge of the plate, and a lot of times he just pushes the chicken right off the edge. I have to watch him and keep moving his food back where it belongs.

After more than a month of offering the raw, Pumpkin all of a sudden decided it was edible! Everyone was eating last night and I heard some growling. I turned around and there was Pumpkin, fighting off the competition so she could have the raw chicken/turkey.

Momma's been eating the chicken/turkey also...and she's holding it down, which can be unusual for her. Maybe it's just because I took away the dry food again...this time for good!

Precious decided that Beef was OK too, she ate about a 1/2 medallion last night which is a big meal for her.
She wouldn't touch it this morning, though.

Leopold is the now only one who has declined the raw. 7 out of 8 isn't bad.

Ain't that the truth!

A little update...

Beandip's bladder is working lately, so he's been eating well. He's been stuck on Beef for awhile. Today he was acting flaky about lunch, but I wasn't surprised because he ate a lot for breakfast. I had put a lamb medallion out on a random plate and nobody else ate it. After I'd already given his Beef away, he stepped up and INHALED the lamb. All of a sudden, Lamb is edible. Crazy cats.
I think I'll quit feeding the Rabbit to the strays, because it just might work out for these guys. Who knows.

I think I mentioned earlier that the "buffet" line was making me crazy. If I put out nothing but canned, they want the raw. And of course vice-verse. If I put out 4 plates with canned, and 4 with raw...then we have some disagreements amongst the troops over who gets what. I tried separating them and it was a disaster. So I just started putting out both canned and raw on twice as many plates with half as much food on each one, and everyone's happy...except for the dishwasher
, but hey I'm here to serve them right? All of them are eating the raw, except Mr. "Holdout" Leopold.

Hope it's okay to post this here

Diesel and Tucker each had half of a NV chicken/turkey medallion tonight with dinner. Tucker licked all of the blood/juice off of his and left it at that.
Diesel ate about 1/2 of his portion very happily then walked away

We'll try again in the morning

That's the way to do it! Don't give in!

Damita still won't eat a medallion straight. She eats her mixture. I was really excited because I thought maybe she would eat a medallion plain a few days ago, but she leaned in to eat & ended up doing a face-plant in the medallion. She just can't find the medallion to eat it without running in to it or missing it(I've seen her "eat air" several times
). She is eating 4 oz which is OK with me. We're sticking with beef for now, but once I use up this new bag, we've got lamb to try.

ETA: Dory quit peeing or pooping on a medallion.....he now does both on one medallion!
If I put some canned food on top of it, he's OK about them.

I'll say it again, your Dory is unbelievable.

The lamb is much bloodier than the other meats. It has kind of a strong smell to it also. Mine still can't figure out if they like it or not, but at least they are trying it now. I know better than to just plunk something different down in front of Beandip...he gets a little mental. So tonight I put down 2 plates for him, lamb and beef, just to see if he went for the lamb again. Nope, he picked the beef.

He has yet to surpass the 4oz mark in one day...he's eating more than 3 now, though. And that's all he eats. He's maintaining his weight so I guess that's good.

Pumpkin is so funny. She turned her nose up at the raw for so long and then it all of a sudden became a delicacy. Paisley just about lost an eye tonight, 'cause she tried to take some of Pumpkin's chicken/turkey. It's funny to hear her hiss with a mouthfull of food.

Natalie, I forgot to ask, have you been able to get Damita to gain any weight? I hope that's going better now.

That's too bad about the face dive...I guess it's not smelly enough without the mixture in it?

Her weight has been up, then down, then up, then down. About 2 weeks ago when she got vaccinated, her was up to an even 8 lbs. The vet still wants to see her gain some weight, she just looks "thin". But, she's not thin enough to be too worried about & her gaining some weight is a very good thing.

I don't call him Dorky Fish for nothin!
Surprisingly, the raw has done Dory well...he was less than 4 lbs @ 10-11 months old about a year a go. Since I've added the raw into his diet, he has bulked up quite a bit. He's up to 8 lbs 4 oz. Skinny little "chicken legs" is my fattest cat!

The best part, no UTIs or "residual spraying"(esp. from Ophelia) since adding raw into the diet.

I just plopped a raw medallion down in front of Damita & told her if she didn't start eating actual raw medallions, I was gonna quit giving her any Fancy Feast as a treat! She then licked the medallion & made some attempts to eat it. I cut it a little bit(not clear through) so she would have an easier time eating it & she's eaten the whole thing!
Tonight for supper I'll see if she'll eat the medallion without being cut into....
