I am so glad that you have these cats, I am sending prayers and hugs from Mississippi that you find them a forever home soon.Originally Posted by eilcon
Lucy and Ethel (also known as Little Lucy) are here! After seeing the conditions in which they were living, any doubts I had about pulling them out of their home are gone. Lucy was being kept in a tiny cage and Ethel in a cat carrier. This wasn't for the purpose of transporting them, it was where they spent a majority of the the time. I know the family cared about them, but this was no way for these sweet girls to be living.
I've got them set up in my spare bedroom with all the necessities. Lucy (the mom) has already been out exploring a bit. She's a real love bug. Ethel is still hunkered down in the cat carrier, but has let me reach in to pet her and purred a little bit. I'll spend a little time just hanging out with them tonight, then leave them to settle in.
Will post pics in the next day or too. Please keep the vibes/prayers coming that the girls check out well at the vet on Wed. Then, I'll get to work finding them a home. Thanks guys!
I'd love to find them a home together and certainly hope it works out that way, but they're not that closely bonded (Ethel tends to get on Lucy's nerves with her playfulness), so I think they'd be fine if they were separated too.Originally Posted by LSULOVER
Sending prayers and hugs from Mississippi that they both find a forever home soon. Are they gonna try to adopt them out together?
Keep us posted on them.
We've all got our fingers crossed that they get adopted quickly Eileen, but I understand not mind having them longer........it's easy to get attached, isn't it?Originally Posted by eilcon

I was actually considering keeping Ethel out of the adoption fair this weekend because she still seemed so scared and would cringe when I went to pet her. She was doing better last night and this morning, though. She came of her hiding place in the closet, let me hold for long time and had a crazy play session with Da Bird. It seems like both girls are little overwhelmed with their new found freedom after being confined for so long. They're doing great, though, and are incredibly sweet. Obviously, I'm hoping they get adopted this weekend but, if not, I definitely won't mind having them around a little longer.
Thanks for the vibes and prayers!
I am sending tons of prayers and hugs from Mississippi that Lucy gets adopted this weekend. Please let us know what happens.Originally Posted by eilcon
Well guys, tomorrow is Lucy's big day at the adoption fair! I've decided to keep Ethel out of the fair after all. She's just not quite ready socially, plus they're only going to have one kennel available and Lucy and Ethel don't get along well enough to be confined together. Lucy actually hisses, growls and swats at her daughter, which wouldn't make a good impression on potential adopters.
There's also been some complications with the family, who now want Lucy back (but not Ethel). Long story, so I won't get into it all here. Obviously, I'm not going to let that happen, but it would make things much simpler if she gets adopted tomorrow. So please send all the vibes/prayers you can spare that someone just absolutely falls in love with sweet Lucy and decides to take her home with them.
Thanks, guys!
