This wasn't for the purpose of transporting them, it was where they spent a majority of the the time. I know the family cared about them, but this was no way for these sweet girls to be living.

I've got them set up in my spare bedroom with all the necessities. Lucy (the mom) has already been out exploring a bit. She's a real love bug. Ethel is still hunkered down in the cat carrier, but has let me reach in to pet her and purred a little bit. I'll spend a little time just hanging out with them tonight, then leave them to settle in.

Will post pics in the next day or too. Please keep the vibes/prayers coming that the girls check out well at the vet on Wed. Then, I'll get to work finding them a home. Thanks guys!
I am so glad that you have these cats, I am sending prayers and hugs from Mississippi that you find them a forever home soon.

Thanks guys!
I posted a couple of pics of the girls if you're interested:

http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...33180#post1633

They were doing well when I left for work this morning. They've eaten a little bit and used the litter box with no problem. They're still a little scared, but very, very sweet. Ethel LOVES to be held and would have stayed on my lap as long as I let her. Lucy's the more outgoing of the two and very vocal. The pics don't do them justice. These girls are gorgeous.

I only regret not getting them out of that home sooner. That's the past, though. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure the future is a lot brighter for these sweeties.

They are both adorable Eileen.

When I realize that they have been in a kind of prision until you stepped in and rescued them, brings tears to my eyes.

Somewhere out there, are people, who will soon open their hearts and homes to these beautiful tabbies.

Bless you Eileen for all that you do,
for cats and people.

Just wanted to let everybody know Lucy and Ethel went to the vet this morning for a check up. They got their shots updated, tested negative for FeLV and FIV and, except for a little wax buildup in Lucy's ears, the girls received a clean bill of health. The vet said, "You've got a couple of sweeties here!"
Very true! He estimated Lucy's between 2-3 years old and Ethel between 1-2, which coincides with what the family told me.
Since the girls were spayed in the fall, they're now ready to go up for adoption (in case anyone's interested
) I'll get them on Petfinder in the next day or so and and they'll be taking part in a Petsmart adoption fair this weekend, so please keep those vibes coming. Thanks, guys!heart3:

Sending prayers and hugs from Mississippi that they both find a forever home soon. Are they gonna try to adopt them out together?

Keep us posted on them.

I'd love to find them a home together and certainly hope it works out that way, but they're not that closely bonded (Ethel tends to get on Lucy's nerves with her playfulness), so I think they'd be fine if they were separated too.

I was actually considering keeping Ethel out of the adoption fair this weekend because she still seemed so scared and would cringe when I went to pet her. She was doing better last night and this morning, though. She came of her hiding place in the closet, let me hold for long time and had a crazy play session with Da Bird. It seems like both girls are little overwhelmed with their new found freedom after being confined for so long. They're doing great, though, and are incredibly sweet. Obviously, I'm hoping they get adopted this weekend but, if not, I definitely won't mind having them around a little longer.

Thanks for the vibes and prayers!

Well guys, tomorrow is Lucy's big day at the adoption fair! I've decided to keep Ethel out of the fair after all. She's just not quite ready socially, plus they're only going to have one kennel available and Lucy and Ethel don't get along well enough to be confined together. Lucy actually hisses, growls and swats at her daughter, which wouldn't make a good impression on potential adopters.

There's also been some complications with the family, who now want Lucy back (but not Ethel). Long story, so I won't get into it all here. Obviously, I'm not going to let that happen, but it would make things much simpler if she gets adopted tomorrow. So please send all the vibes/prayers you can spare that someone just absolutely falls in love with sweet Lucy and decides to take her home with them.

Thanks, guys!

Thanks for all the vibes and prayers, guys.

Unfortunately, Lucy didn't got adopted on Sat., although she did manage to charm all the volunteers. She has also gone back to the family on a trial basis at the mother's request. Please trust my judgement on this and rest assured I'm keeping a close eye on the situation. The mother really does love Lucy and the family knows keeping the cats caged was wrong and uncessary. They're not bad people, just lacking in some common sense and dealing with a lot of family issues. They've promised me Lucy won't be caged again and I'm going to drop by unannounced tomorrow on my lunch hour to ensure that's the case. The mother is unsure if she wants to keep Lucy longterm, though, and I've told her she needs to make a decision one way or the other soon.

I still have Little Lucy (Ethel) and have gone back to calling her that, since it's what she knows. Callling her Ethel was just to avoid any confusion at the vet and adoption fair. The family doesn't want her back, which I don't get at all. She's a different cat with her mother gone. Sweet, extremely playful, really cute personality. I'd keep her in a heartbeat if I could. I think she was rather intimidated by her mother, who was constantly hissing and growling at her. It's her turn at the adoption fair this Sat., so please keep those vibes coming.

I've also had an offer from an out of state rescue group to take both girls if it comes to that. It's a great organization and another TCS member, who lives close by, is willing to check on them. I'm just trying to give it a little more time for them to get adopted locally.

That's it for now. Thanks for thinking of these two sweeties!
