Kandie is not allowed on the table but she is trained to a dining room chair... Zoey on the other hand will run across the table to get outside( grandmas lovely training
) but otherwise she sits and watches

Well, I allow my cats anywhere and everywhere, because I've basically given up on the idea that they can be trained to do otherwise.
They run this household, and it's fine with me.

Yep, I don't eat at the table, so it's no big deal at all for me to let her on there..Plus, she likes to sit on the table while she watches me cook or do dishes and I think its cute

My RB kitty, Whiskers, never was on the table or counter, but I've never been able to keep Löki or Jacob off and gave up a long time ago. I do try to keep them off if we are having company for dinner, after I've changed the tablecloth!

Sash is definitley allowed on the table!
The only problem is we have a very high table with bar stools and Sash cannot jump on the table anymore. He used to use the chair or something that would sit next to the table in our apartment when it was in the living room there, but the poor boy can't find anything now to help himself up there anymore. Sometimes I'll put him up there to do his teeth or just to let him look around again.

I was the same way when Sash used to sit on the counter and watch me at my apartment, I would always say how beautiful he looked sitting there.

I prefer them not to be on the table, but Pepper prefers to be on the table. Petunia puts her feet on the table, but never actually gets up there.

Yeah, there's not really a point in keeping them off since they can go up there in the night and when we aren't home.

What a cutie pie! But with sinks you can just turn on the faucet and flush all the hair and dander down the drain!!

Allowed on tables is still winning.

Good poll

The last time we had company sitting at the dining room table, Pixel came bounding through the room, jumped onto the table, then onto the shoulder of the innocent guest in front of her, then onto the top of the curtain rod behind him. After living through that, I can't imagine how they could embarrass me now.

So, no - I don't care what other people think.

The quality of this pic is bad, but it illustrates what Pixel's motivation for her little gymnastic routine described above. The point is to get up on that moulding near the ceiling. The DR table is below that light. Note the saggy curtain rod

I wish I knew. Those curtains are amazing. We just bought this place in September. When I saw all those lace curtains I just laughed. But they've stood up to it very well. I wish I knew where they got them. Pixel's been up and down all of them and they're fine. It's the cheap curtain rods that are suffering.

Some of the rooms upstairs had paper blinds. Those, umm - aren't fairing so well.

Katie and Gracie believe the dining room table is there for them to lounge on, so who am I to argue?
Pete and Claire don't seem interested in being on it. Their all good about staying off the table when I have company.

The funniest at my place is when I'm trying to set the table with a table cloth for company. I have an under-quilt, then the table cloth goes on top. I only set the dining room table like this for special occasions like Christmas or a dinner party ( we had a fondue party a few weeks ago in which I need to protect the table).
Anyway, the cats go crazy with the table cloth. they get under it, mess it up, push it off. If I don't get all the cutlery out there immediatly to weigh down the cloth, I might as well forget it.
The glasses can't go on until the last minute, otherwise they will all be knocked off.

Yes, my cats are allowed on the table, but not when the table cloth is involved!

We don't have a kitchen table- but we do have an island/bar in the kitchen that they are allowed on, they don't go on the counters by the sink/stove very often, they know they aren't supposed to go there, but occasionally they do, but only to lay in the sink

Fess up - who really doesn't care about having their cats on the table? I'm really curious.
Aha!!! I have been vindicated. My cats are the cleanest "people" in the house and they are always invited to the dinner table. This question has came up SEVERAL times this week and I was starting to think I was some type of freak but now I see I am finally in the majority. Thanks for this poll!!
