Hi there,

I'm new to the group, hoping to get some good advice and maybe even adopt a kitten.

I've always been that girl that my mother wanted to kill for bringing home every stray animal under the sun. I'm a sucker for kitties. I want to help. I know how many there are roaming the streets without good homes. I try to do what I can, if I see one I will do my best to find him a good home, or take him to the local cat and kitten rescue.

I have been searching for a kitten for the past couple weeks. I finally bought my own house so I don't have to worry about the whole "No Pets" concept anymore, so I am looking for a kitten if anyone knows of any that are going to be ready soon, keep me in mind! Thanks so much, and I look forward to reading new posts!

oh i forgot to mention that you shuld take a look at your local shelter. They always hae an abundance of kitties that need loving homes. Sometimes you can even find a purebred sometimes.

Welcome aburkett

to TheCatSite and THANK YOU for loving, caring about, rescuing, and ensuring the safety of cats and kittens in your area.
All 9 of us are rescued, indoor-only and spayed/neutered of course; we all came from "the streets" and our devoted servant has lived with, loved, rescued, and advoCATed for cats all her life. We hope you will consider adopting from a shelter/sanctuary/rescue, rather than from a "pet" shop or breeder -- you sound really in the know about the situation cats and kittens face in our society, so you'd probably want to rescue someone who really needs it, wouldn't you?
We strongly believe in multicat families, too, because it means more lives saved, more love shared, and large families keep one another company, play, exercise, groom, and sleep together, and are just so much fun! Hope there are good local rescues in your area --sounds like there are --and perhaps you might also think over adopting ADULT cats rather than kittens, as adults have so much harder times being adopted, and they almost always are housetrained and calmer, and wonderful companions!

Hi & welcome to TCS!
I'm sure you're so excited to get a kitten. If I may make a suggestion, you may want to consider adopting two. Your kittens will be happier and better adjusted when they have someone to pal around with.
I don't know of any kittens, but I wanted to welcome you.

Wow....thanks so much for all the warm welcomes! Trust me, after doing some research on puppy mills, I won't be buying anything from a pet store ever again!!! I think I'll stick with Petsmart and PetCo where they adopt cats out from Shelters instead of selling $2000 dogs that were bread and raised in a puppy mill. Sorry, I'm a little peeved about all that, especially when I started realizing how many of these so called "breeders" there are in PA. But anyway, lol, I'm not in the market for a purebred cat, so I won't be going to a breeder either. I'm probably just going to check around at some local shelters (Tiger Ranch especially) and keep my eyes open on Craigs list and the news papers. I actually was talking to this girl who recently took in an abandoned cat who was pregnant. Apparently she had her kittens, but only one survived. This girl thought she was going to be able to keep them, but something came up and she's unable to. She wants the mother and kitten to go together (obviously, the kitten is only like 4 weeks old or something crazy like that) and she needs to get rid of them like now...the local shelters aren't taking any more cats right now either, so it kind of makes things a bit difficult. I'm hoping to maybe adopt the mom and baby from her, I would hate to see her have to abandom them because she just can't keep them any longer. We'll see though. Thank you for all your advice, it's much appreciated!
