very confused dog & cat

hi all, i have a very confused cat & dog, when i first got george (my cat) his mother refused to feed him so my hubby & i hand reared him,he soon took to attempt feeding from my dog whenever she slept. we soon had to put a stop to this as his claws & teeth were cutting my dog and being as placid as she was let him do it. now my problem is willow (my dog) keeps trying to hump him as she's female! she also pins him down and bites his belly neck & back, this leaves my poor george feeling and looking very confused, i know this is a cat forums but what am i to do? any ideas?

has willow been spayed? if so for how long? How old is George now?

The behavior you describe your dog doing sounds like dominant behavior. Dogs will hump other dogs to declare dominance over them. Even Neutered and Spayed dogs will do this. Its the same with the knocking down and biting. Your dog seems to be putting the cat in his place. I would be careful that your dog doesn't hurt the cat. Dogs don't usually do this to cats, but I guess for some reason your dog thinks your cat is a dog.

its funny you say that as my cat thinks he is a dog i tried to do cat things with george so he wouldnt loose his cat I.D but unfortunatly still does everything my two dogs do, e.g when let them out in back garden for their buisness he goes out too and does his then waites too be let in ect.
my george has been done (he wasnt happy bout it as he went to vets after being attacked badly by magpies) my other male dog Koda has been done too after i ended up with a litter of puppies but willow hasnt been done. willow also trys to hump koda too and him being a male and alot bigger looks very uneasy bout it all lol. willow is quite old she's bout 7 or 8 yrs old (shes a rescue dog) maybe shes just old & confused she definatly changed after she had puppies making her more agressive around food & alot less patient
