in a pile of open toed shoes!
The sweetest thing ever, I've been trying to spend some time in the back bedroom so that she doesn't feel lonely, or punished by being in there alone...so I've been going in and sitting on the floor with her, and reading my book. She will smash herself into my leg, and hold on with her front (clawless) paws and rub her face into me as hard as possible. Then, she managed to pull her tubby little hiney up on to my lap....and did the best she could to get comfortable....let me tell you, she took up my WHOLE lap...
there wasn't any room for me to even hold my book!
And then she'd reach up and do her "kneading" on my chest and purr like mad. It was very sweet. I keep promising her that I'll find her a mommy to love her like she deserves.....

hmmmm, must check airfare for kitty transport.....
I did find a shelter that will put her on the list, but they won't have an opening for 90 days. I am just worried, the paper work says that once you sign her over, you are releasing all "disposition of the cat" and that they can do what they want with her.....I am hoping hoping that doesn't mean they will PTS after I sign her over....

Is it a shelter that does that, I mean PTS? Check Petfinder if you haven't already for other shelters in your area, and see if you can't find a no-kill shelter that would be willing to take her in. Maybe you've already tried that and I missed it in the thread. If so, sowwy.

That poor baby... She sounds so sweet.

she sounds like my Chip - he does all of those same things, & he's such a big guy, @ 14 pounds, that he takes up all of my lap room, too!

Heather, if you put up an ad, I would suggest you don't put her age in it at all, then you will get people to look at it, read it, & fall in love with her. Put something like you just told us in it...."needs a large lap" or "lap kitty with plenty to love". Try to get the best pictures possible that don't show any of her "ickiness". Make sure you put "front declawed" "spayed" "good w/ (kids/cats/dogs-whatever she's good with)"

OH, & as for the shelter that will possibly take her in 90 days, find out if you can get her back if she is in danger of being PTS. Ask tons of questions about the likelihood of her being PTS. If they choose not to answer, don't chance her life & send her there!

i agree. some people would be really interested in a declaw, already fixed cat - i was when i found Chip. unless a cat's a senior, which she isn't, i don't see why her age should be mentioned at all, other than to say she's an adult, not a kitten.

that would be fabulous....I just want her to have a home that will love her the way she deserves to be loved....not just treated like a "pet"....

thanks sweetie, those are awesome tips! I am worried about the whole PTS thing....the one place said, "if you wish to find out the disposition of the animal you surrendered please contact us in writing with a SASE" that kinda scared me.....

Just wanted to add my prayers for this sweet girl to find a loving, forever home.

Also, as Heidi mentioned, it really is less expensive (and easier) to transport a cat via an airlines than you might think.

i just don't know how much i personally could contribute to her travel fund... right now i'm extremely cash poor. i'm having to wait on my income tax refund to take Chip in for a dental exam...
what exactly are her health problems? other than age, etc.

Laureen, right now I don't know much. She has a vet appt on Sunday and I am having the full blood screening done on her (which I'm sure she will hate
). I will let you know what they say. She is on a 1/2c=4-5oz of food per day diet per my vets instructions, and seems to be doing well with it. She has some abrasions like "rug burn" on her belly, which the vet said was probably irritated more by nervous licking caused by all the stress she's suffered. I am getting her an e collar this weekend, and will be treating her wounds. It will take about a week to get her blood work back.

Here is some good news! I have had about 10 different people reach out from my emails about her. A few are willing to put her in their adoption program (privately owned), and 2 rescues want me to come and show her with them at 2 different petsmarts.
that is awesome! All pending her clean bill of health of course. So things are looking up! I was beginning to get down about it, as I sent out my emails on Mon and have just now heard back from people.... And I've been told that she has a good chance of being adopted because she is declawed, that can be used as a selling point if someone expresses concern about scratching furniture. Also, she doesn't have the kitten crazies, and some people are looking for a calm serene cat...
let's keep our fingers crossed!

that is great news! i think it would be much better for her if she didn't have to make that long trip to find a home - somewhere close by, where maybe you could check up on her? it'd also be good for her to be an 'only cat' if that's possible, i would think.
good luck finding her a local home!

I'm just copying & pasting from my other thread to keep you all posted on her status:

ok, an update.....well, the rescue that is taking her was supposed to pick her up on Sunday, but they had car trouble and didn't show. I met them last night at their vets a few minutes from me. We took Mommy into the vets, and they gave her a rabies shot, and took some blood (she hated it
), and did a check-up, and front lined her. Here, the wounds she has is from flea infestations! I had checked her over and didn't see any, but the vet said she must've been infested her whole life, and is allergic to flea bites....so this was causing her the irritations and then she was licking & biting at it....the poor little girl. (to think all of this could've been prevented with frontline!) Now, to be safe, I have to get both of my cats front lined, and wash everything really good.
She has a good heart beat, and clean ears (just a bit dirty, but he cleaned them out good)....he put her on the scale, she weighs 14.5 lbs, on a very small built cat!
She is smaller in length than LuckyGirl, and over twice the weight!
The lady from the rescue said it would be a bit till she was adoptable, cause we have to get her wounds all healed up.... but I have a few people that are interested in adopting her already! I must admit, I did lose sleep over her last night, I kept wondering if she was scared, if she was alright....
So, they said they will keep me posted with updates of her health & whenever she gets adopted....and I will keep you all posted too! Thanks again for all of your prayers & wishes for her, she is on her way to a loving home!
