Wow! You did a fantastic job and certainly had the patience to build that!! I took notice in your pictures that you had "furry" little helpers. I'm sure it makes your efforts all the more worthwhile when you see your cats playing or resting on it.

Excellent work.

You did a wonderful job, it was very brave of you to take on such a big job, but you did it, and it looks just beautiful.

lol Well you can build one or two and sell on ebay. Then gradually work up. The more you made the faster you would get at it.. Seriously I'd buy one off of you...if I didn't already buy one...lol... When I'm ready to expand I'll email you....

I love mahogany, it turns out so beautiful when lacquered. The crows nest is a really classy touch, hopefully the cts will use it more.

It seems you had quite the crew supervising the construction.
Thanks so much. I love how the crows nest turned out.
I can't wait to see how my kitchen countertops turn out once I have a finish on them. I'm using an herbal oil instead of a polyurethane. Although, I did put poly on the underside of the countertop and also under the top side where the sink's drainboards will be.....I just finished the 3 coats yesterday.

Very very nice. You did a terrific job!
For now, I think the only thing I will be adding to this one might be a set of stairs as Ansel gets older. There will come a time when he won't be able to make that 3' jump anymore and that is where the stairs will come in.

I do have a couple of questions - how many sundays total do you think it took?

How high is it? And do the cats have any problems getting up on it?

I really love your tree! I want it!!
I started it the Sunday before Labor Day....so I started it on September 3. However many Sundays there are between that & New Years Day.

From the floor to the top of the crows nest it is 7 foot 8 inches. The cats have no problem getting on it. Since it's next the piano right now, they will jump on the piano and then step onto it. But, Zan & Bella can jump from the floor to the second level. Zan also climbs all the posts like a tree and gets from one level to the next like that.

Thanks! I'm glad you like my cat's tree....but you can't have it!!

I love building things.....there's something about seeing something like that develop from nothing if you know what I mean.

Thanks MissCharlotte. I'm very happy with the results. Yes, well, I think the kits were inspecting more than helping.
Zan sleeps on it more than my other 2.

You did an absolutely fabulous job!! Way worth more than the 100 bucks or so spent on the materials! I would say your cats think it's priceless!

Great job!

That is SO AMAZING!!! I made a scratching post a while ago, and it was nowhere NEAR as wonderful as yours (very basic, something on bottom to scratch on, and something on top for them to sit on.) Anyway, it took FOREVER and was such hard work - I can't imagine making one like this! I'm so glad you posted everything step-by-step like this, too. If I'm can ever coordinate time and energy, I'll love being able to go back through here and find this to make one myself!!!

GREAT JOB!!!!
