I recently came across a unneutered male cat around 1 1/2 years old that I adopted and now brought into the household with 2 other male NEUTERED cats.
Now I plan on neutering this male within the next few days, however I did allow this cat to interract with the 2 other males just so the cats can get associated with each other.
To sum up about my other 2 cats, one cat is very solitary (was once feral and slowly going to a domestic route and is gradually warming up to human contact). My other cat is highly social, and a true lap cat. Both cats get along great and have no problems with eachother.
Now - once I introduced this new cat into the house, there were no real problems with the initial interraction. I had the cat in the bathroom away from the other cats at first so the 2 cats would realize there is a new cat in the house. After the initial introduction, I allowed the cats to finally meet.
At first everything went well, my 2 cats were both accepting of the new cat, a few chases going on, sniffing, and licking. Everythign seemed fine. However, the unneutered cat (Holiday), began to mount the domestic neutered cat (Sebastian), and proceeded to bite down on his neck and hump as if he were trying to mate. Now Sebastian became highly irritated at this and swiped him away and growled at him.
Once Holiday attempted the same action again with Sebastian in the presence of the once-feral cat (Bumpkins), Bumpkins ran after Holiday, hissing and swiping Holiday away from Sebastian. It seems as if they are not getting along now bc of Holidays very forceful nature, esepcailly int erms of the fact that he is still not neutered. Sebastian and Holiday get along fine as lolng as Holiday doesnt try to mount him, whihc just angers Sebastian, and forceS Bumpkins to come out of hiding and literally attack Holiday to get him away from Sebastian. As well as when Holiday attempts to go into Bumpkins hiding spots, Bumpkins hisses and growls at himt o get away.
I truly do not want this behavior to continue and really would like my cats to get along with each other. The thing is, will these behavioral actions change once I get Holiday neutered? Any suggestions? Opinions? Thanks
