Ok, Thanks SOO much to all of you who helped on my last post. The kitten has been mostly successfully integrated in with the old cat. My 2 year old cat has pretty muh accepted her as a new member of the family. There is an occasional hiss or growl when the kitten gets too "in-her-face", but otherwise they have been chasing each other around. HOwever, my old kitty wont let me touch her or pick her up. She never really liked to be held before but she tolerated it. Now she wont let me even pet her. She has not been hiding though, and I don't think she is sulking, she just doenst want my husband or I to touch her. Is this going to change? It has only been 3 days since we brought the kitten home. I hope my old kitty doens't think we have replaced her. We try to show her as much love as we can but when she won't let us, how can we?

On another note, the new kitten likes her food, but she likes the old cat's food better. I cannot feed them both at the same time. My old kitty is used to having food out and she can eat whenever she wants to but I cannot do that anymore because the new kitten will eat it. She needs to eat her kitten food for at least a year, and I don't want my old cat to feel like I have taken her food away. I think this may be leading to her jealousy issues and why she won't let me pet her. I have started feeding them at certain times of the day and not leaving any food out. I feed my old cat first and then the kitten. The kitten will take a few bites of her and then wander over to my old cat and will chase her away from her food and start to eat hers. I kind of wish my old cat would put the kitten in her place and let her know that its not OK to eat her food, but she just runs away. Anyone know anything I can do to make feeding time easier? THANKS SOO MUCH!

Can you feed them in separate rooms? Cats don't understand that they should only eat from one bowl.

My cats wander around eating from every bowl, convinced that the other cats have something better

Well I can, but I have been reading articles onintroducing new cats to old ones and many of them say that feeding time together can strengthen the bond between them. That if they are doing something they both enjoy, together, they will begin to like each other more. I will try to feed them in separate rooms, maybe that will help. At least until the kitten is old enough to eat adult food. Then I dunno what I am going to do.

Any other suggestions on how to show my other cat I still love her and that she is not being replaced?
