I think we did when I was really little - before we moved to the States (but never in the States).

Apparently I would alway insist that my Easter egg (chocolate, not chicken, go figure) HAD to be kept for Santa, and would check periodically throughout the year that my parents hadn't thrown it away. (I didn't like choc as a kid - still don't like milk chocolate, which is what the eggs were).

My parents finally got to chuck it on Christmas Eve, but would still insist on buying me one four months later.

And they did this for three or four years running.

And I bet Santa really enjoyed his treat that year!

I thought I was the only one who left out the reindeer dust.
Problem with that is unlike the cookies and carrots which get eaten, you find yourself out in the snow in the middle of the night trying to make the dust "disappear" because my kids put it out not only for the reindeer to find the house, but also to eat.

Yeap! And my kids do it too. We left carrots out for the reindeer also. My dad would take the carrots out to the horses and let them bite it to look like the reindeer did it.... We don't have horses here in the city....Wonder if Jake likes carrots?

You need to get a special dish to leave it in for the reindeer. (My nieces helped me decorate a saucer from a big terra cotta pot that we use for a "reindeer feeder".) Then you can just dump the dish.

I still leave cookies and milk and carrots and reindeer feed. Usually at least one of my nieces is around to help me, but I do it whether they're there or not. Better safe than sorry.

(The kinda cute thing is that Pat will get up during the night and make it all "disappear" for me. He's SO sweet sometimes.)

Wish I had that little tid bit of information 5 years ago.
Guess my friends and family were right - I've got book smarts, but not one ounce of common sense in my body. I can't believe all those years I never thought of that. What an idiot!

We always left out cookies and milk, carrots and sprinkled raindeer dust in the yard!!

Something neat- our local television station "tracks" santa every year. They always show him on the map getting close to arkansas around nine o clock so all the kiddies will go to bed!!

Our kids leave out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots/apples/celery for the reindeer.
We did that when I was a little girl.

You know, that's a good idea. I'm going to convince my nieces and nephews this year that Santa could use a nice glass of Merlot.

By the time Santa finishes with his rounds around the world, he ought to be sufficiently sloshed!!! I wonder if the no drinking and driving rules apply to sleighs??
