licking their fur bed!

Why on earth are my kittens licking their fur bed? It gets really gross because it dries up and gets all white and crusty. How do I stop this?

I'd wash the bed. They obviously like the taste.

Actually, we just got back from the vet yesterday and the vet said that the kittens love the soft fur texture because it is similar to their mother. They nuzzle, massage and lick the fur as if they were nursing. It's more so a comfort thing for the both of them. In the meantime, I got a lot of cleaning to do to keep it from getting gross!

I put a used 'kitty fur bed' that neighbours gave me in the washing machine and it washed up just fine. I think they have to be washable; you can at least get rid of some of the yuck.

This one is too easy! They think it is their mother.
