Hi all, thank you for reading my post. I need some advise on whether my hubby and I should get a new kitty at this point. We have two adults cats (dom. short hair), aged 7 and 5. One is close to us and the other one is very independent. We read about the ragdoll breed and like the characteristics of being close to human and sweet temperament. Hence the urge of getting a third cat is brewing. However, not sure whether we are capable of taking care of this new addition. It has been awhile since we take care of a kitty. Both hubby and I are working, 8-6pm. No kids yet but will start to try later this year or earlier next year. Is ragdoll okay with kids?

Thank you for your suggestion and your time.

Well I too like ragdolls and what I have read about them states that they are normally great with everyone but every cat is different. I think it all depends on the cat sometimes. But as too should you get one well it depends on if you can provide for it and if you think you can handle it. I say try and do it. That way I can see ragdoll pics. I have a cfa link about ragdolls if you would like it just pm me.

Ragdolls are a very special and beautiful breed of cat: but there are non-pedigree cats out there at your local shelter that would have some of the characteristics you are looking for. My Oliver is a regular-old DSH and he, like ragdolls, is very affectionate, loves to be held: when I'm at home, I have to carry him around on my hip like a baby or he pouts at me!

Before spending on a pricey pedigree, check out your local shelter: let them know what kind of a cat you are looking for, and I'm sure they'll have one that fits your description: your cost will be much lower, and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you saved a life! Shelters are overflowing with cats and kittens who need good homes like yours: please consider adopting a shelter cat!!
