Yes. I put one pack flat on one end, and the rice pack thing kind of on the side on the opposite end. It's a decent sized basket too for the mountains of laundry my insane children cause me! lol

Yes, and to avoid that I made sure the duvet cover I used is laid in it and over all four sides, so there's no way for them to get stuck in between a blanket or in the holes. Gotta keep babies safe!
