For the rough traveling cat: I believe some vets will prescribe sedatives for travel. Maybe that would make it easier on her?

They sell wipes, pretty cheap. They give cats a waterless bath. Leaves them smelling like baby powder.

I would personally hold off on the vet unless it is really bothering him or it increases in size. Sounds like a lipoma.
