Is this normal?? How can I help him?

I'm glad to hear that it's at least somewhat normal, and he's not more crazy than I suspected :P  Keeping food out of his reach is hard - obviously, I have to feed him before I feed Emmy and I have to feed them in separate rooms (or else he just eats her food), so it seemed easier to keep his...

Is this normal?? How can I help him?

Hey Guys, I need some sage advice from kitty rescuers... I have an 8 month old kitten named Edmund - I adopted him from a fairly bad shelter situation at 6 weeks old.  When i got him he was kind of skinny and had coccidia (which of course I treated).  Anyway, the good part is that he's...

    help!

I've had him 2 and a half weeks, which I know isn't very long.

    help!

Thanks for the advice - all the stuff I read online said that this situation is really hard to make work (b/c of the age difference), so it's good to hear that there is hope.  I really can't get another kitten - my allergy situation is iffy as it is.  When do you think Emmie, my older cat, is...

    help!

Sooo... a kitten just showed up on my doorstep and he's the greatest except that he tortures my adult cat!  She's not super old (almost 4), and as a kitten she had a playmate, but she's been the "only cat" for a while.  They've gotten to the point where they can co-exist, share litter box, water...

    Thinking about taking another jump...

Well, Emmy's former buddy had a bad case of feline herpes and attacked people, so he had to be given away.  when i brought the new kitty home in december, he seemed kind of sick, and Emmy actually tried to escape the house, which she NEVER does - I left a door cracked and she ran out...

    Thinking about taking another jump...

So... I've been too busy and stressed to even think about cats - other than being a doting caregiver to my sweet Emmy:)  However, now that my classes are over and my life is about to slow down a bit, I'm thinking about taking another jump into the "find-Emmy-a-friend" pool . . . the last time...

Just adopted 6 month old kitten

if her change in eating/drinking habits was due to the new kitten, could that become a bigger problem when/if the kitten comes back?  Like, how likely is it that she could hurt herself out of stress?  She's three, and other than being a little overweight, she's healthy as a horse.

Just adopted 6 month old kitten

Well, the people at the shelter didn't think he looked sick at all, but they said that they would have the shelter vet look at him on tuesday, and then they would call me with the results.  I feel really silly for being so paranoid; it's just that when I was younger I had a cat with a really bad...

Just adopted 6 month old kitten

Okay, well, this is a sad update:  Prince is pretty obviously sick.  I don't think he's on death's door or anything, but he seems to be manifesting signs of feline herpes, along with some weirdness going on with his mouth.  If it were just him, it would be different, but it's not fair to expose...

Just adopted 6 month old kitten

Hey there! Soooo, I decided to take the plunge and brought home a beautiful teenage kitten named Prince.....not sure yet if I am going to stick with that or not. The shelter gave me some of his used litter and a favorite toy - so far no interest in either one.... My resident kitty, Emmy, is not...

    Hi from Emmie!

This is Emmie! She's three, spayed, and came to me as a kitten by way of a friend with an accident litter.  She's a little chubby, but that just means more to love, right??  One of her weirdest habits is that she likes to fish empty toilet paper rolls out of the trashcan and play with them…...

    Newcomer Question

Hi,  I am trying to make a decision regarding my "kitty family" and came across this forum.  I currently have one absolutely wonderful cat - Emmie.  She's three, spayed, and lived very happily with another cat for the first year and a half of her life - a very dominant older male.  Long story...
