Thanks everyone, eddie has am appointment with the vet on Friday. In the meantime I'm going to pick up some pumpkin food I used to buy for my old boy who had really bad hairballs. Hopefully that helps :(
Hi everyone, my 3 year old indoor boy has been suffering from the runs for about 3-4 days. He's acting completely normally, playing, sleeping, eating, all that stuff but his bowel movements are NOT. I gave him some canned tuna juice as a treat the other night which he has never reacted to so I'm...
Hi everyone, I know the kitten stage is a very important developmental time and I'm curious to see people's opinions on the best kitten food. Let me know, Thanks :)
Hi all, We're bringing home our new kitten in 2 days and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on transitioning his food. I've picked up a bag of the food he is eating now but it is a low quality grocery store food (Purina Kitten Chow) and I'd like to switch him onto a higher quality food...
Wow! I'd never actually looked at the Spirit essences web site although I do "like" Jackson Galaxy on Facebook and see him posting about it often. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one I should try based on what I've shared about Loki? So many choices! And a lot more affordable than I...
Ive heard of the feliway diffusers. Have you tried it yourself? I do play with him as much as I can but I've yet to find something that gets him really excited. He usually loses interest pretty quickly
Hi everyone! I have a cat named Loki who I've had for about a year and a half. He is about 5, domestic longhaired, neutered male. We adopted him from animal control after he was abandoned in an apartment when the tenant moved out. When we first got him, we had another cat who was about 1 1/2 and...
Thanks for your responses guys! This is the second time he's had issues but we are in a different province than the last time so obviously a different vet. The first time the put him onthe same we food and when he went back for another urinalisis his crystals had cleared up and his PH levels...
There's a few things that could be causing this. It could be a food allergy, stress, fleas or a number of other things. You could try putting him on a food which contains a fair amount of fish. The oils are good for skin and fur.
If you don't have a flea comb you can try having him stand on a piece of white paper and ruffling his coat. If there are black specs on the paper you'll know he's got fleas. This is caused by the flea debris. (waste, dried cat blood) Hope this helps little!
They are struvite crystals. I'm not huge fan of vet foods as I prefer to go a more natural route with my cats (no animal byproducts, grain meals etc) but obviously I understand its essential for his treatment, I would just like to keep him on it for as short a time as possible. There's a lot of...
Hi everyone,
My kitty Loki has what the vets seem to think is idopathic cystitis. Last time he went in, just about two weeks ago, they took a urinary sample and ran some tests. They came back taking us he had crystals and no bacterial infection. He was not prescribed any meds but he is now on...
Here's an update: We left Monty in BC and he is doing great. We are constantly getting updates on the adventures he gets up to and he loves his two other kitty pals. Loki is with us, the plane ride was a bit chaotic (he peed himself on the first take of, poor little guy, and i had to spend most...
Just thought I would give an update to this: It didn't work. He had calming spray and some calming treats but he peed himself on take off and by the time we got the cab to our new apartment he had also pooped himself. Poor guy. Now, I'm not saying the spray doesn't work at all. I'm saying it...
Hi Folks, I'm going to be flying my kitty across the country (literally from one side to the other British Columbia to Quebec) with me as a carry-on and I talked to my vet about sedatives and they recommended a pheromone spray like Feliway or Sentry so I went and picked some up. I'm wondering if...
