    Cats meowing outside

Personally, I'd deal with the neighbor first. Trapping and/or animal control has a way of making unfriendly neighbors, so if the intruding cat is approachable and has tags you may be able to figure out who he belongs to.   If you can't figure out who he belongs to then you could try repelling...

When they are picky about a meal...

According to my vet: Food straight out of a new can has about a 4-6 hour limit. Mother Nature gave cats short, rapid digestive tracts and acidic tummies that are (in a healthy cat) very effective at killing bacteria. Personally, I don't leave food out for more than two hours. The cats won't eat...

    Tortoiseshell colourings

Could be: black female + orange male orange male + black female tortie female + black male tortie female + orange male The X chromosome is what determines coat color. It's possible for a male to be a tortie, but it's rare because it requires a genetic mutation called XXY (a.k.a...

The Joys of PetSmart Customer Service - Lacking

For the most part, I've found that PetSmarts and Petcos are pretty similar brand and price-wise. The only foods that I buy at Petco that I can't get at PetSmart are Halo and Merrick. Like any other comparative shopping, I just keep an eye out for the sales & coupons. Adoption via rescue...

The Joys of PetSmart Customer Service - Lacking

After some internet digging... it looks like Simmons Pet Food is the manufacturer of Grreat Choice. They have a web site, but it's pretty generic and there are no specific product listings. Personally, I'd run to Walmart and spend the extra 5 cents a can on Friskies.

Cat that struggles to meauw - HELP?

My tortie chirps and when she gets excited she sounds like a monkey. She has meowed, but only when stressed out over something. (A trip to the vet will usually get me 3 or 4 meows)

    Older Cat Anorexia issues

Have you tried warming his food up? Cats typically wont eat what they can't smell and warming the food up will make it more aromatic for his elderly sniffer.  (Just make sure you don't heat it up too much... you want warm, not hot)

Better cat food vs. particular kitty

Please stop feeding your kitty that Dollar General crap. To me, it's scary enough that the only thing you can find online about Everpet are horror stories about recalls and sick/dead pets. You can't even find who manufactures the food... If money is an issue, the 9 Lives and Friskies pate...

    Sheba Chicken?

I still keep them in the rotation, but the chicken flavor and the turkey flavor are about a 50/50 shot. Sometimes I'll hold out an extra hour or two on the schedule to make sure they're hungry, but that doesn't always work. Beef and beef & chicken are the chow it down favorites. Chicken &...

Does anyone have Sheba in their rotation?

You're much better off staying away from the "gravy" foods. They are usually loaded with glutens, starches & gums. That, and Sheba's pate foods do not contain carageenan...

    Evo cat food?

Our cats are on EVO Chicken & Turkey cat/kitten dry and they occasionally get the 95% line for wet food. It's good stuff and reasonably (if not very well) priced for a premium food. Finding it is really the only problem that I have.

    Fancy Feast Beef Flavors? Opinions?

My one cat won't even look at pate, while the other one changes her mind weekly. The only thing she has given up on consistently is the Turkey & Giblets. This week we're on the beef and turning our nose on chicken, of course because I just bought 12 cans of chicken.

    Feeding Kibbles

I'm the one who misunderstood it first, so I'll take the blame.

    Feeding Kibbles

Anything with ground corn as the first ingredient is a bad, bad, bad cat food. Honestly, Meow Mix is one of the worst cat foods you could give to your cats. It's cheap, because it contains more fillers than it does meat, and more fillers means more unhealthy, fat inducing carbohydrates. Cats...

So confused, maybe someone can shed some light?

Dry food tends to be calorie dense. One cup can equal 500-600 calories or more, which for your average 10lb cat, is about three times what it needs. The other problem with dry is that it can be the kitty version of crack. A lot of manufacturers spray flavoring (a.k.a. animal digest) on the...

    Kneading...

Ours is in love with her little pink cat bed. She'll turn on the purr, drool and knead for a few minutes, then turn it upside down or knock it off the bed... almost every time.

Ferals/Strays trying to get into my house

We have a FFF every night on our patio. (a.k.a. Feral Feeding Frenzy) I have to stick one leg out the door and shoo with my shoe to make sure none of the five maniacs runs in. I've been climbed a few times and last week, one finally got in. Fortunately, she did a lap around our dining room...

When do I switch them to adult food?

You didn't mention what kind of cats or what brand you're feeding, but as long as there are no dental problems and their mouth/jaw can handle the larger kibble, my vet recommends switching to regular cat food at about 8 months. Dry food is already calorie dense. One cup will usually put you in...

So, what is the best cat wet food?

Sheba's pates are actually pretty decent for those on a tighter budget. Like the Fancy Feast Classics, a straight protein is first on the list but they also have some by-products. Sheba's about a nickle more than Fancy Feast, but it seems like Sheba goes on sale more often. As far as the other...

    Dry/Wet Food With High Protein

Based on experience, I can recommend the EVO Chicken & Turkey. Just make sure you transition it and watch the portions. With low/no carb foods, the fat content is typically higher and so goes the calories. (EVO weighs in at 600 calories per cup.)
