You can buy a high calorie paste for cats at any major pet store. I used Petsmart's house brand, and it cost around $ It comes in a tube. Both the container and consistency of the paste are a lot like toothpaste. This is what I gave my little guy when he was fading and refusing to eat. The...
So, Nermal is now 1 lb 5 oz. He has come a long way. Super playful, running, jumping, attacking the dog. :) Earlier this week he basically weaned himself off of the kitten formula. He is eating mostly kitten wet food, about 4 oz a day. He also it's some dry kibble, but definitely more wet...
It's been a few days since I have been on to talk about Nerm. He is now 8-9 weeks old. My 6 year old was trying to open Nerm's crate (he sleeps in a dog crate) and my husband told her "No, stop!" so she promptly slammed the crate shut. On Nermal. I was not in the room, and everyone...
Clear Pedialyte really helped to perk my kitten up when he was dehydrated and having trouble feeding. He seemed more eager to lap up the thinner fluid then formula, so I ended up cutting the formula by half with pedialyte.
I have been trying Nerm with a little litter tray, but I haven't been able to leave him alone with it because all he wants to do is gobble up the litter. Yes, the kitten who still won't eat or drink out of a dish thinks cat litter is the tatiest thing ever. How can I discourage this behavior?
If she won't suckle, get a syringe-like medicine dropper, like you would use to give medicine to an infant. You can get one from a pharmicist or vet for free usually. Then you can just drip tiny bits into the corner of her mouth. You can stroke her throat gently to encourage her to swallow.
As long as he is eating well and does not seem to be in any sort of agonizing pain, I would let him continue on the way he is. Only time will tell if things will change for him or if he will learn to compensate. Plus, if he grows large enough they may be able to do something for him surgically...
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I too have a young child. As much as I try to keep her off of little Nermal, if I leave the room for so much as a minute she will go and try to take him out to "play". I explain over and over that he is too little for that kind of play, but she just...
Nerm has taken a turn... For the better!!! He is doing the best I have ever seen so far. I was concerned that he hasn't been urinating much, but I found out he has been secretly peeing in the crate I put him in at night. He has made a certain towel his bathroom. Now I have moved that towel to...
Tried to get a look at his gums this evening, but he wasn't having it and I didn't want to stress him. I did give him another bath with Dawn tonight and warmed him up super well afterwards. A lot of the fleas seem to be hiding on his face which is making them hard to get during the bath. I...
Also, as far as dehydration goes, the "pinch the neck" test does not work with him because his fur is quite puffy and long and I just can't tell anything that way. I have been having him pee over a glass so I can see how much comes out, and he is peeing quite well, although it is still pretty...
Hi, everyone. Out of desperation, I called the vet and asked her if there was anything she could do for Nermal's constipation. The answer was a flat out no, she said he was just too small. I did convince her to sell me the dewormer though. I read suggestions about the canned pumpkin for...
I am familiar with probiotics for people but not cats. Is there a product sold? Can he safely have yogurt? I'm not sure about the lactose content of yogurt, I know lactose is not good for kittens.
