Another update...
Paisley started on Atopica/Cyclosporine on Halloween. So far, so good - no side effects and her scratching hasn't gotten worse.
We went to the dermatology vet on Nov. 9th and it turned out the lesions on her back were not infected.

Just an update...
I gave Paisley her first dose of Atopica tonight and will be seeing the derm. vet on Nov. 9th. Hopefully, this will help!
I finally had to wrangle her into a dog shirt because she kept scratching/licking her back.
Meg
Whoa, didn't check the site for a few days and this thread blew up! Lol.
Thanks to everyone for their information and opinions. I really do appreciate them all.
As for my lil' buddy and I, I'm going to make an appointment for her to see the derm vet again next week because I'm concerned about...
LDG,
Yes, I saw that there were quite a few at the AHVMA site. Should I be looking at Chinese medicine or acupuncture?
After Paisley's rather rough night last night, I have emailed her derm. vet to see if we can try out an environmental allergy medicine. I just want to see if I can get her...
LDG,
Thanks for the link.
Poor Paisley has just scratched the cut at her back and it's bleeding. I can't even apply any medicine because she keeps trying to bite me. She looks so pitiful. This situation is so stressful!
Meg
Ldg,
Thanks so much for your response.
Actually, I'm located in MA, which is probably why a kangaroo diet is so expensive, lol. In my "new to the site" post, I wrote that even if we lived in Australia, i couldn't see Paisley mauling a kangaroo (or even a kiwi bird, for that matter). Haha...
Fyi, the Royal Canin Hypoallergenic food my cat eats is from the local vet hospital pharmacy. I've also seen it online. I think Dr. Foster's had it?
Hope things are working out for you and your kitty!
Meg
Hi, everyone,
My name is Meg and my cat's name is Paisley. She's about 4 now, and when a friend rescued her from a derelict house, she was about 8 months. She's a domestic short-hair and looks like a Snowshoe.
History:
About 2 years ago, my sister found a cut on Paisley. The vet looked at it...
Hi meck01,
Thanks for your reply! Aw, Russian Blues are so cute! I'm glad you had good luck by switching foods.
Thankfully, I have been able to work with the vet to give her a good quality food. It just seems that she's allergic to every one I try! Paisley is on Royal Canin Hypoallergenic...
I just used boric acid on the carpet because there are some sort of mites biting me at my work. I read that it wasn't toxic to cats! I put it down for about 45 min, while my cat was in another room and
sleeping, and then vacuumed the rug twice. Do you guys think I should be concerned about my...
Glad to hear that your Sugar is doing well!
Just wanted to put out links to some products that might help cats in her predicament when the cause is unknown.
Meow Wear - they make custom body suits for cats that have licking/chewing problems. I saw the woman who creates the suits on Must Love...
I have started using Soft Paws for Paisley because she scratches at her neck (due to an unknown allergy, at this point). I used another brand, but I like Soft Paws best because the have the CLS (cleat-lock-system), which keeps the caps on longer.
Feel free to put them on for cuteness reasons...
Just a suggestion for food:
Before it was discovered that my cat had allergies, she really liked Blue Buffalo Wilderness dry food. They also have wet food - she loved the duck! It's more expensive than brands like Meow Mix, but the quality is so much better and it will stop your cat from eating...
