I have a stupid question, are the cans that you are using 13.2 oz or 5.5 oz? If the cans are 13.2 oz & your feeding 1/2 a can a day + 1/4 cup of dry that would be approx. 300+ cals a day, perhaps cut back the dry to 1/8 ( 2 level tablespoons not heaping, or one level coffee scoop not heaping )

Well yes, would they appreciate your efforts, not so much. If you think that your cat is to hot, try giving your cat the choice of a cooler surface to lie down on. Granite tiles or counter tops, ceramic tiles or floors usually stay much cooler than the ambient room temp.

I would choose lead, as it is a heavy metal that has the potential to cause brain damage.

Could she be standing in the box but not squatting? Some cats just don't squat & the urine shoots right over the side of the box, at times a foot or more away.

I filled up all of the large cracks in my concrete driveway with a 40# bag of bentonite kitty litter, it's still holding strong 3 years later!
