female 2yo kitty meowing very loudly w/ a toy

My female Siberian Forest Cat (2yo) has been meowing very loudly (any time, day or night), like she's calling out to someone.  We've noticed that most of the time she's doing this, she has a toy w/ her, sometimes in her mouth, sometimes in front of her.  The toy is a long, snake-like soft piece...

can a neutered male cat urinate (or spray I guess) vertically?

I have 2 cats (both 2yo, Siberian Forest Cats, 1 male, 1 female, both neutered), had both since kittens. Today, one of them urinated (or sprayed???) on my daughters new carpet and on the bottom of the bedding (bedding is not new).  It wasn't a round puddle (like the spot I found on the dining...

help - cat poops himself in the car every time...

my male (neutered) 2yo Siberian Forest cat poops himself every time he has to get in the car.  He has long hair, and it's just a MESS.  I bought a large dog sized crate for the back of my SUV, roomy enough for a litter box and a cat bed.  Last time I transported him in that, hoping he'd go in...

best way to deter our 2 indoor cats from trying to get outside?

We have one male and one female Siberian Forest cats, both almost 1yo.  they've always been indoor.  We have a screened porch off our dining room that I always keep the door open, so they have a wonderful screened area as well as our house. We also have two 90lb dogs (goldendoodle and german...

9 month female was in heat, bleeding, raised liver counts...

thank you!  I will definitely remind the vet about the liver enzymes in a few weeks, and ask to retake them.  I forgot all about that - just so happy to have my little girl home.  Now I have to keep her and the boy separated for 2 weeks.  Can't wait until they can just play and cuddle together...

9 month female was in heat, bleeding, raised liver counts...

thank you so much for all that info!!   I'll watch for symptoms of a reaction to the shot - so good to know all that about it for the future.  I soooo wish I had called the breeder when I first saw blood.  I've always only relied on vets - lesson learned.   Thanks to everyone for your well...

9 month female was in heat, bleeding, raised liver counts...

as to when to neuter, my vet was recommending neutering the male at 6 months and the female later for her to be older.  Is this not what is normally done?  I feel like this all could have been avoided if they both were neutered younger.  But I don't know if there's a good reason to wait a bit.

9 month female was in heat, bleeding, raised liver counts...

so the vet called... my girl had pyometra.  Her uterus was full of puss and blood.  The vet said they haven't even seen a case in a few years, even in dogs, and hardly ever in a young cat.  Should I let the breeder know?  Or is it a random thing that the breeder wouldn't care to be made aware...

9 month female was in heat, bleeding, raised liver counts...

so she's back at the vet now.  they're going to neuter her today, and hopefully all goes well.  Yes, it's very possible the male cat tried to mate with her and hurt her.  The vet told me when she neutered the male yesterday, she looked at his privates, and he's 'large' and so are his barbs, so...

9 month female was in heat, bleeding, raised liver counts...

my 9 month old Siberian Forest kitty has been in heat 2x's, and has been bleeding for a week now.  I called the vet a few days ago, they said it was probably just her period, and she was scheduled to be fixed today anyway (along w/ our 6 month old male cat - not her brother but same breeder).  ...

    2 cats - female/female, or female/male?

We just got a Siberian female (16 weeks old) last week.  We want 2 kitties, but there were only a few available, and the others were hiding, not very friendly, etc, when we went to the breeders house.  This one was perfect for us. There will be many to pick from in 2 months (a few litters were...

    male vs female spraying

I've always thought that male cats can spray, even if they're neutered, and that females generally don't. I've recently learned that was wrong.  I'd love to be educated on spraying.   We recently got a female kitten, and are getting another kitten in a few weeks.  I was set on 2 females...

rehoming cats; Siberian advice; screen advice

I truly appreciate your reply!   "Supposedly" the Siberians don't produce the amount of the protein FEL-D1 that most cats do.  Of course I'm not going to take the breeders word for it.  Husband and son will play with/pet the adult mommy for a while.  My husband can tell w/in 30 minutes or so...

rehoming cats; Siberian advice; screen advice

I've posted before about my 2 kitties.  We adopted them last November from the humane society, and were allowing them to be indoor/outdoor cats.  They were bringing home 1/2 dead prey and eating it while it was still alive.  We were prepared to find a horse barn that wanted hunting cats.  I also...

cats eating baby bunnies while they're still alive...

OP here.  I really appreciate all the replies.  Giving me lots to think about.   again all, thanks!  I'm really, really torn.  I WANT to have kitties!  I've waited 20 years for my hubby to say yes.  (he's mildly allergic, but not w/ breathing - just itchy eyes).  I always had a cat and a dog...

cats eating baby bunnies while they're still alive...

I really need help!  We adopted 2 female kittens from the humane society last November.  The people there didn't have any background info on the cats (if they were from a house cat or feral).  They were 3 months and 4 months old when we got them.  When I took them to the vet, he casually...

2 older kittens not affectionate at all...

thank you for the tips.  I will definitely try the hand feeding treats.  And no, they're not chipped (the dogs are).  Thank you for bringing that up, I honestly hadn't thought about it.  I will call the vet today for that.

2 older kittens not affectionate at all...

This past November, we adopted 2 female kittens from the humane society.  They didn't have any real info on the kittens.  They guessed they were 3 months and 4 months old (not sisters).  They were in the same kitten group when we picked them out (so they were like litter mates).   They adore...

    leaving kittens when vacationing

thank you all for your replies.  you've given me a lot to think about.  I didn't think about them getting themselves into 'trouble' and possibly getting hurt.  that would be terrible!  I'll talk to hubby and we'll figure out what we're going to do.  thanks again!
