My parents' cat was a rescue and was about 5-6 years old when they adopted her. She came through her spay procedure just fine. The benefits FAR outweigh any potential risks. I was a nervous wreck when all 3 of mine were spayed, but it's a great relief to know I saved them many potential issues...
The two cats I have that don't have chronic health issues go once a year for basic checkups and whatever shots are due at the time (we usually get a postcard reminder from the vet on who's due for what).
I came to work this morning and I am the only person in my office! It's Spring Break at the University I work at so the rest of the faculty is gone. Looking forward to getting a work project done by noon then spending the rest of the afternoon holed up in my office reading
Sending good thoughts to your kitties. My parents' two seniors are no strangers to respiratory infections and they seem miserable Hope yours begin to feel better soon
Hi,
I had a similar experience with Heidi when she was about that age. I rescued her from a shelter that had spayed her just the week before. Had her for about 2 days and she acted and played like any healthy kitten would. Woke up on the third morning and found her balled up in the laundry...
Owning a Great Dane is on my bucket list someday. They have the best dispositions and I big dogs! My Malamute was the runt in his litter and is around 80-85 lbs and I was disappointed that he didn't push 100
John Stewart had some commentary on this week about Libya. I won't post it because I'm not yet 100% familiar with forum rules about political opinions, but I'm sure if you google it you can find it. I got a little chuckle out of "...We're at war? Again?? Don't we already have two of those???"
Hi! Like you, I also have 3 cats (but all are girls, and all are spayed). 99% of the time, everyone gets along, or at least is indifferent to one another. But occasionally Heidi and Pepper will go through a phase of 2-3 days where they hiss and growl at one another and we really have to get onto...
First of all, thank you so much for the input so far. I'm glad it's a slow day in my office (spring break at a major university = no students) because I spent about two hours on the yourdiabeticcat.com website and another hour or so on mycatinfo.org page. Both were INCREDIBLY helpful.
I have to...
That's the truth! I JUST started working out again regularly a few days ago, so none of the 9-10 lbs I've lost so far can be attributed to that. For me, it was all about the little changes to my diet. I also use a calorie tracker on my iPhone and had no idea the kind of crap food I was putting...
Not only did I fall, I fell into a creek, ripped my jeans down the leg AND had it caught on tape by the film crew of the tv show I was working for at the time. It was broadcast on local cable in slow-mo, repetitive replay, you name it. 10 years later, I'm still taking crap for that.
If you...
Hi everyone! I've been searching the thread archives for information on feline diabetes, and I have been getting some great information. I decided to go ahead and create my own thread just to have some more specific questions answered and also so that I can get to know other forum members and...
Snickers: Usually just Snicky, or sometimes Toddles (she was a fat kitten and toddled everywhere)
Heidi: Heidijo, Hieids, Hibbidy Dibbidy (I don't even remember where that got started)
Pepper: Peppy, Pepster, Tiny, The Midget, or just Midge
