    self mutilating behavior

Thank you for your reply. Her vet is going to talk to other vets about this. I am reposting because I need more help. She is not responding to antibiotics. She is on amitriptyline for behavior but I don't know if it's helping because her wound won't heel. If the amitriptyline doesn't help...

    self mutilating behavior

Since my daughter was born April 2013, Luna has been licking and biting the hair off her belly till it is raw and infected. Her vet has treated her for a potential autoimmune disorder but she has failed all diet changes and medications and supplements. He said we could do a biopsy of the area...

    Licking

Luna has been licking her belly and has given herself a large bald spot.  We thought it was allergies and she got a steroid shot but she continues to do it and it's getting worse.  It just dawned on me the other day that she could be doing it because of stress.  We now have a 3.5 month-old baby...

    Peeing on the bed

Ever since we started giving Luna daily steroids for her recurring rodent ulcers she has been peeing on our laundry.  She never had issues before.  We started putting our laundry in covered hampers instead of laundry baskets but now she is peeing on our bed.  She has been to the vet and treated...

    Sudden litter box accident

Ok, I spoke to soon.  She just did it again.  This time on a pile of laundry I had on the floor because I had sorted it into loads ready to go in the washer.  Still it was in our bedroom and we were right there when she did it.  I tried to shoo her away but she was already "midstream" so she...

    Sudden litter box accident

Thanks, no more accidents since.  I am not sure what happened that night!  I was really worried!

    Sudden litter box accident

Not sure if this belongs in Health or Behavior.  I took Luna to a different vet today for an opinion on her rodent ulcers.  My original vet said she was stumped on what else to do and wanted to do a biopsy on the ulcer and I didn't think that was necessary based on what I have read.  The new...

We have tried everything... indolent ulcers.

Thank you so much! I have a call into the vet and hopefully will hear from her tomorrow. She only works Friday, Saturday, and Monday. I am concerned now that Luna has not responded to the steroid shot at all this time. I'll bring up all your suggestions to her. I am desperate! Aside from...

We have tried everything... indolent ulcers.

We switched to raw over a year ago.  At first it was amazing!  She went the longest she ever did without a flare up!  She was eating Primal beef and salmon.  The she got an ulcer that would not go away so we decided to try rabbit but she wouldn't eat that so now she has been eating pheasant for...

We have tried everything... indolent ulcers.

We have done EVERYTHING we can think of to help Luna and the ulcers on her mouth.  Our vet is convinced it is caused by an allergy, either food or airborne, not an autoimmune disease, though I have been giving her l-lysine as well.  We have changed her food and I think we have tried 5 different...

    annoying behavior

Is it possible she could have a health problem that needs to be checked out by the vet?

    annoying behavior

Thank you soo much for listening and understanding my dilemma! I was about to resort to dry or canned but I am worried her health issues will resurface and that is a whole other annoyance with a trip to the vet and no solution but a steroid shot will help. She is between 8.5-9.0 lbs and she is...

    annoying behavior

Hello everyone! I have not posted in a while but I am still struggling with Luna's health and behavior issues. We have an appointment with our vet on Tuesday to get professional advice and rule-out any underlying medical problems. So I can hold out till then but would appreciate your advice...

    New to raw, portion size?

She is eating Primal pet foods quail formula right now. She gets 250 mgs of l lysine twice a day. She eats at 7, 4, and 9. Why not the goats milk?

    New to raw, portion size?

I just switched Luna to raw in hopes to prevent more outbreaks of ulcers on her mouth. She is around 8 lbs and that's an ideal weight for her. I am feeding her 3oz a day. Is that correct? She acts like she is starving. She figured out how to get the lid off my dogs treat jar and chow down...

Luna doesnt like to wear her collar.

Thanks everyone! It's good to hear others' experiences, good and bad. My Luna is mostly indoors but sometimes she slips out when I let the dogs out. So far I am always able to catch her because she stops as soon as she gets to the grass, she seems surprised to feel the grass under her feet...

Luna doesnt like to wear her collar.

She has a normal safety-cat collar with just her id tag. I haven't even put her rabies tag on it because it makes too much noise and I think that would bother her more. It's not too tight. She scratches and scratches and tries to bite it or bat at it. She meows like she is not happy until I...

    Another idolent ulcer

Thank you. I am only defensive because Luna's vet is who recommended that diet and sold it to me in their office. I was just taking the advice from my vet seriously.

    Another idolent ulcer

I am in the US but what difference does it make. The label says hypoallergenic selected protein. Yes I was mistaken about the venison meal ingredient but that doesn't make a difference either. That is not the reason I am asking for advice.

    Another idolent ulcer

That's it. My vet has a whole aisle of Royal Canin veterinary diet foods. They do have canned and dry. I was mistaken about the byproducts in the ingredients. I think I was not sure what is contained in "venison meal."
