Cat with asthma, URI, open mouth breathing

My Murphy is 7 years old. On Tuesday I noticed he was lethargic and took him to the vet. He had a fever of 103.2 and the vet said he had a little congestion in his lungs, so he gave him a shot of Convenia. His eyes were also a little bit red, but not watery. No sneezing, no nasal discharge...

Any reason why FIV+ cat w/ small foot wound can't get neutered?

That's what I was thinking, but since it's such a small wound I was thinking that there might be some other reason I couldn't think of. Thanks for your reply!

Any reason why FIV+ cat w/ small foot wound can't get neutered?

A stray kitty showed up at my grandparents' house. He's a gorgeous flame point Siamese. I took him to the vet and he tested positive for FIV. He has a small wound on his foot, it's not deep and it's not all that bad, but the vet said that his foot should heal before he can be neutered. She...

    Carrier for two cats

Check the dog section at your pet supply store. I know that at PetSmart the cat section only has the smaller carriers, while the dog section has larger ones. They are all the same thing, just different sizes, and it would be fine to use a larger one for both of your kitties.

Road trip from FL to CA with 2 cats

I recently moved 900 miles with 10 cats and 1 dog in the car. I used dog crates for the transport, the foldable kind. I had a large one, 2 medium ones, and a small one all fitted into my SUV and I put hammocks in them so the cats had some room to move around during the long trip. I didn't give...

Ingedient comparison? Blue VS Purina One Beyond

I figure that there has been a post about Purina One Beyond around here, but I can't seem to find any. I'm looking for some advice from those of you who know a lot about ingredients. I currently feed my cats Blue Buffalo Sensitive Stomach formula, $37 a bag and we use 1.5 bags a week...

Crusty ears, head, spot on nose.. Mange? What else?

His vomit is definitely regurgitated food. It's never anything but whole kibbles. He must just be in a big hurry to eat all the time. He's a piglet! He hasn't been tested for ringworm, but I can pretty confidently say that it isn't ringworm. I unfortunately had to learn all about ringworm...

Crusty ears, head, spot on nose.. Mange? What else?

My cat, Jack, has crusty ears. The insides of his ears are clean. The edges along the outside and inside and about an inch down his ear on the inside are red, crusty and itchy. The hair along the back of his ears on the edges is gone. He is also scabby on his head, specifically in that area...

Kitten testing FeLV+ & have another cat

First I just wanted to say: You're great for rescuing Cali! I personally think that it would be too risky for my taste to expose my healthy kitty to a FeLV kitty. FeLV can be spread through things as simple as sharing food and water dishes, grooming, etc...

    Declaw or no cat!

Though you've already decided on the cat you want, you could spare the pain and suffering of declawing her AND save another life by adopting a cat that has already been declawed. Tons of declawed cats and even kittens end up at shelters...

    Clipped ear?

Some low cost clinics will also snip the ear of non-feral cats that are getting the feral cat price for a spay/neuter. If the person opts for feral package, which is usually lower in cost, they must get the ear snipped whether the cat is feral or not. I've been to 2 clinics like this.

    Cat Fences

Concrete footing sounds like it might be a good idea! I'm going to look into that. Thanks! We have an 8ft max where I live, I believe. I'm planning to find out for sure about it tomorrow.

    Cat Fences

I wish I could just get the Purrfect fence, that would make life easier! But, I have to have the privacy fence because of the neighbors, mostly. They are very anal about anything done and they're nosey AND I don't want them to see how many cats I have. I have to have the privacy fence also to...

    Cat Fences

I wasn't really sure where to post this, so hopefully here is okay! I am in the process of getting a cat fence so my cats can go outside safely. What I already know if that I'm going to get the Purrfect Fence conversion system. So I have to decide what kind of fence I'm going to get to put...

Survey? What food do you feed your cats?

I feed my guys dry Blue Buffalo for sensitive stomachs, sometimes mixed with the regular chicken & rice formula of Blue if PetSmart doesn't have enough of the sensitive stomach type. I sometimes mix in dry Taste of the Wild if the cats seem to be getting bored with the Blue. I feed one special...

Cat leaves dead things and FOLIAGE on porch?

I saw my cat Murphy in action this morning with leaves AND a chipmunk in his mouth! I always go to see if there's any chance of saving whatever innocent critter he has, and it looked like he had just snatched it up from a hiding spot and grabbed the leaves and weeds at the same time. Brought...

    What do you clean with?

From what I've read it would be safe to mix in a few drops of oil with a large vinegar/water solution. I did find a natural cleaner at Lowe's today to try out though. Safe for pets and environment Can't recall what it's called at the moment. Selection for "green" products seems to be...

    What do you clean with?

I'll see about adding essential oil to the vinegar, thanks Willowy! I'm not willing to continue using anything that I know is toxic to them. Can't do anything without them being in the middle of it. They think they HAVE to be involved when I clean! When I clean the kitchen and dining room...
