    Raw diet vs. today's economy

Thanks for all the replies guys. At this point, the fact is that my mom will probably not switch to all raw. Maybe when she retires- she just can't warrant the time/complication of learning something new (yes yes, I know it can be easy and fast, but this is my mother, trust me.). Our cats are...

    Raw diet vs. today's economy

How does feeding raw compare price-wise with a high-end dry/wet diet? I'd be interested in feeding raw a couple times a week- because that's as much as I could afford. Is that okay for cat's systems? ETA: It should be said that these are not just my cats, but my mom's as well. She takes care...

Real christmas trees - are they a danger to cats???

SP is right, this would be my main concern. Good luck, whatever you do!

    can kitties be depressed?

Just reread and noticed- I know I'd be depressed if I no longer had a "kitty tv" to watch outside the window, but I don't know what you could do about it. :/

    can kitties be depressed?

Have you had a vet appointment this year? Cats can definitely get depressed. Changes in behavior can be very indicative of something going on internally. I had a kitten that started getting really needy at about half a year old- he ended up having congenital kidney or liver disease, and was pts...

Help me diagnose my cat! Abuse or Illness?

Got back from the vet- gut, heart, and lungs sound great. It appears she has exposed pulp in the canine- so infection is going to breed in there really easily. It will get extracted as soon as my vet back home deems fit. That being said, she probably is in some pain. Vet never offered anything...

Driving 12 hours in the winter with a cat- ideas?

It's hard to say, the vet that I took her to today was just giving the free exam that I get for adopting her. Her heart, lungs, and gut sound good. She said she wouldn't be surprised if she was in pain, so Posh will get a more thorough evaluation on the 22nd when our vet gets back from vacation...

Driving 12 hours in the winter with a cat- ideas?

No, we won't be using sedatives. I just got back from the vet, and she has exposed pulp in the broken tooth. It will be extracted as soon as our vet back home deems right. I will look into rescue remedy, the vet I just talked to spoke highly of Feliway.

I've been crying a little bit too since posting this, and it's almost been two weeks.

Driving 12 hours in the winter with a cat- ideas?

This will hopefully be the only time she has to endure a drive like this. Once she gets home, she stays there- and I come back to college.

Help me diagnose my cat! Abuse or Illness?

Thank you very much. Yes, at the shelter, I am one of the most active "cat cuddlers"- they call me The Cat Whisperer. I just gravitate towards the ones that need the most help- whether they are sick, depressed, or shut down. One of the most fulfilling times of my life was two weeks ago- a...

Advice- cats that don't get along

Right now, they WILL be separated for the first two weeks at least- as in, have their own rooms in the house, switching out bowls and litter boxes for them to smell and such.

Advice- cats that don't get along

I'm sure a thread similar to this has been made, but I did not find the advice I needed, so I was hoping if anyone could help me with this particular situation. How successful have you guys been, or heard of others being, at owning two cats that don't get along? (this would be in a small 1100...

Driving 12 hours in the winter with a cat- ideas?

It's looking more and more like we'll be getting a hotel after 6 hours. I'll be talking to the vet later today when I take her in. Have any of you ever used PetEase or Feliway during trips?

Driving 12 hours in the winter with a cat- ideas?

She will be staying home after this, the only reason for the drive is because I found her at a shelter near my college, not a shelter near home. Once she gets home, she stays. No more big awful drives unless I move across the country in future years. If we let her out in the car, one of us...

How important is a strict feed schedule?

We get our food from a local family run store similar to Petco, or Petco. We were doing Wellness, but have since switched to something else that I unfortunately cannot remember the name of. (I'm in college 9mos of the year, so not as involved as I would like) The coon gets a weight management...
