New to Cats, trying to save a life

Thanks for the comments. I do get to see them both at least a couple times a week. The old cat and I are now buddys. And they both get lots of love from my brother in law. An all around good solution.

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Thanks for asking. Sassy, Tiger, and now known as "kitten" is doing quite well with my brother in law. He can't remember the cats name so he just calls him Kitten since his other cat is quite old. They tend to steer clear of each other with occasional spats which sends tiger running. He...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Well another month has gone by. So far no major altercations between the 2 cats. Minor tiffs end up with Sassy running and hiding. The line has been drawn, and Mama is the boss. He gets his licks in to a point and then she says that's it! For the time being, he's staying with the brother...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Another update: So far so good. I so miss my baby. Held him for a while tonight. He was fine with that. I think he misses me too. Mushy stuff aside, he seems to be coping with the Mama cat well. We think she's about 14-18 years old and apparently very wise. An example was my feisty...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Update d+1week So far no dramatic encounters from either cat. My BIL seems to enjoy the kitten attitude of Sassy as opposed to the 'old cat' attitude of his cat. Sassy will follow him around and explore every inch of the apartment, playing with things along the way. The 2 cats still have...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

I'm hoping that he warms up to the mama cat. I went and visited yesterday and things were much better. Tiger/Sassy seems to be adapting to the new environment. My BIL said that he was sleeping in the bedroom where we setup his bed. We also left his container on the floor with the door off...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Well he is currently spending his first night away from home. And, yes, this will always be his home, at least for me. He of course is really pissed. He did spend some time roaming around the apartment. Then he settled down and hung around us growling and hissing. Fortunatly, the older cat...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

I'm so thankful for everyone's help over the past many months. Tiger is doing well. He's still not over to the apartment yet, but it still may happen. They just hiss and growl at each other. I saw a Cats101 show the other day and he said it was normal for them to do this. As long as it...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Here's a dumb question. Can cats talk to each other? Since my cat hasn't grown up with other cats, did he not understand what Nicky was trying to say?

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Well we gave it a try tonight. I brought him over to the apartment. I left him in the carrier for a while to get used to the other cat in the room. Nicky is a great older cat. She was curious but not aggressive. Tiger on the other hand was growling softly most of the time. Hissing...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Thanks AddieBee for the link and suggestions. I think I found the other one you were looking for. We're moving slow. I've been over to his place petting his cat and he's been over here with mine. So, I think their getting somewhat used to each others scent. I bought some Feliway wall...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Update time... It's overdue Well, we still have him. Surprised? My BIL is breaking in his 'old' cat to the new home. She seems to be taking the new digs pretty well, but hesitant. She used to spend a lot of time inside the couch frame. The last time I visited she was on the couch and...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

Well he's still here. The plan is to have him go with my BIL when he gets his own place. Tiger will join with an 8 year old female that actually looks a lot like Tiger. Hope they get along.. Here are some outside pictures showing his coloring and my curious cat.. Hope you all are having a...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

He's defiantly feeling no pain. Earlier he was up on the top of the refrigerator. I had to approach slowly to make sure he didn't jump to the floor. He knows he's not supposed to be on the counters much less the refrigerator. Right now he's snoozing on my desk. He does seem a bit more...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

We're back. He seems fine. The nurse did say he was 'mad' and didn't want to go back in the carrier. I have enough problems getting him in the carrier when he's happy. Thanks for all the well wishes. We'll be keeping an eye on him for a few days. Dan PS, He's playing with the cat tree and...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

He does have fun with it. I tied a YoYo under the middle, that's what he's batting with his paw. It's strong enough for me to stand on, I don't think he'll hurt it. When he moves, I'm going to add to it and get it tall enough for him to see out the window.

I did leave the t-shirt and bear with the Vet to put in his cage. I hope it helps.

New to Cats, trying to save a life

I know I should probably start another thread or 10 to cover some of the odd things happening, but I just keep adding to it. So if the moderators want me to change this let me know. Your comments are applicable, because I hope other that go thru some of these experiences gain from your...

New to Cats, trying to save a life

I did receive a call from the vet saying that everything went well and he's doing fine. My guess is they say that no mater what happened. Hopefully he's snoozing and not scared. Lots of noises to keep him awake, not unlike our visits to the hospital. I met a couple of the other pet family's...
