I had a cat who liked to do that too, but you had to be careful, because he didn't acquire one of his many nicknames, Saber-Toothed Buddy, for nothing.
That's what's great about the all-purpose term "kids" but you're right, people get way too focused on trivial BS at the expense of a lot of other stuff.

Store credit cards tend to be a pretty bad deal (for the customer, at least) since the interest rate is going to be something like double - treble what a bank-based credit card is. You have to be careful with credit, as it is a trap easy to fall into masquerading as a benefit.
They were talking about a wood burning stove though, which is for heating (think fireplace) and not for cooking. I had the same initial thought, though.
There is also the breed (I forget which exactly) which is hairless and thus no dander, so should be ok for allergic people. They do look kinda freaky though.
