I have a dry junkie. I've offered her what feels like every type of wet food under the sun, but so far she only liked one - Nature's Variety rabbit. Due to allergy issues i couldn't let her continue to eat it and i'm still trying to find a dry that she's not allergic to. After i work that out...
Sometimes that's how it manifests, i don't know why. Ears are self-cleaning (generally speaking) and if you don't see visible build up, that's probably not it. Worth a try though i suppose, just be careful not to overclean, some wax is necessary for the normal functioning of the ear.
Have you tried just clipping her claws regularly? It's pretty easy and effective. I personally think if the choice is declaw or rehome, in my opinion you should rehome. Better a new life than maiming her.
My cats have several things they are allowed to scratch - a nice tall scratching post (they need enough room to really stretch up and if it's not tall enough they will try to find something that is), a small kitty condo, and a horizontal scratcher. One of these days i'm going to get them a...
Well, she never really stopped scratching on Serengeti. It's nowhere near as bad as it was on Chicken Soup, and she's scratching different spots which i find strange, but i decided to try the California Natural again even though i'm not thrilled about adding grains back into their diet. The...
Could you elaborate on that a bit please? What do you consider to be "grain-like"? All starches? Or just certain ones with particular characteristics, and if so, what characteristics?
Rajah loves nothing more than a foil gum wrapper rolled into a ball. It's smaller than commercial cat toys. She'll chase it all over until she loses it under some furniture and has never tried to eat one. I agree with Ginger's mom that it is totally dependent on the individual cat and should...
This is just an off-chance guess because of allergy problems that i've been dealing with, but has the allergy angle been tried? Some cats are allergic to airborne, seasonal allergens. Have the vets suggested trying antihistamines? Might be worth a try to ask. Good luck.
This thread isn't any worse than the unmoderated threads i've seen about about other poorly formulated brands. In this case, at least i feel like the company is trying to do something good, reducing animal cruelty, etc - however misguided that may be in the context of obligate carnivores...
I understand this as a general concept and i don't want to give you a hard time, but there are so many threads here that mention specific brand names which receive no moderator intervention that i wonder why this thread specifically has? Half this subforum are threads about a particular brand...
OK wait a minute, are we not allowed to mention brand names in general, or did the lawyers get involved here? There are so many threads on, or mentioning specific brands that haven't had the names modded out that now i'm confused about what i'm allowed to talk about here.
Some cats get bald spots due to food allergy. Bald spots on the head and neck only are particularly consistent with this, but you can really only be sure if other possibilities (like fleas) have been ruled out.
I have those grass inserts for the drinkwell fountain. I stopped those awhile ago when i was trying to do food trial. But i was always under the impression that grass just aided them in throwing up the hair, not in passing it. Is that incorrect? I'd rather it winds up in the litterbox than...
