How often do you clean the litter box?

Well this is going to be embarrassing. 1. My box is like an under the bed tote, but not a huge one. Bigger than a typical litter box though. It was in the clearance section at the container sore because it didn't have a lid. 2. Fresh Step Unscented, a clumping clay litter. It's super dusty but...

    Refurbishing Cat Tree: Opinions

My dad is a carpenter and while working in a house he saw a cat tree he liked. He made a comment to the home owner about how much he liked it and she said he could take it. It's a nice tree and was probably quite expensive when it was purchased but you can tell the woman's cats really liked it...

    Diseases and food

I just finished a book that talked about the correlation between the types of food you feed your cat and the diseases they get. So I was curious about any diseases your cats have had and what they were eating at the time. This does not include infectious diseases like FIV, FeLV etc. but thing...

    Urinary Tract Infection..please help

I'm sorry your poor boy has been sick I would get him off dry and onto wet as son as possible, please remind your husband that he is ill and it will take some time for him to get better. I would however confine him to a room (a spare bedroom or bathroom) with a litter box and everything else he...

    Cat health books?

I'm not done with it yet but I'm pretty far in and it's very good. It's mainly on nutrition and nutrition related diseases, some may seem like basic info depending on how much you know about cat nutrition but there is a lot of factual information which brings about a better understanding. I...

    Non pate Wellness canned foods??

Another chunk in gravy type food is innova Flex, which is new. It is full of veggies which I'm not a huge fan of but other than that it's a pretty good food. I don't know if you can get it anywhere around you though.

    Poll: Feeding Quantity ?

Both cats eat the same amount, even though Neko is larger, he is less active and Willie very active. They both get 1/2 cup daily which is split into two meals. on a day when they get wet food they get their 1/4 cup in the morning and half of a 5.5 oz. can at night (each).

is there a cat food thats healthy and

The higher quality foods will generally cut down on odor as there is less waste actually coming out, more is being digested. Look for food with few grains especially avoiding corn and wheat as they are some of the least digested grains. The more meat and less grains and veggies, the better...

    Is Neutering "Right?"

I know with dogs there are pros and cons to each. With neutering several cancers are reduced, mainly those of the reproductive organs, you reduce the risk of spraying (but not all un-neutered males spray), in females you don't have heats and in males if there is an intact female around you don't...

    Canned only?--wellness or what?

Wet food would be great for both of them, it's good for any cat that will eat it and actually can prevent crystals, UTI's etc. from ever happening. wellness IMO is one of the most expensive wet foods out there, even compared to foods as good and better. Of course compared to prescription foods i...

    Question about grain free foods

I know, I was just making sure the OP was not under the impression that both dry and wet grain frees were bad for cats with UTI issues, it's usually just the dry.

    Response to wet food

I'm doing the same thing right now, I bought a whole bunch of brans and am spending my time seeing how they react to them. I only feed one a night. i tried the buffet thing once but it failed. The thing with cats is that they rely very heavily on their food smell to decide whether or not to eat...

    Question about grain free foods

Remember that it's the dry that may not be best for cats with UTI problems (many dry foods grain free or not do), generally wet food will not cause them.

how to start on wet food

I don't know, I've been trying for a year at least. There were stints of them eating it (a short time they ate the Felidae and for a few months they ate wellness and then swore it all off). I can get them to unhappily eat some if I put dry food all over it but I really don't want to continue...
