    Fleas

I brought a stray into my home January. He was sterilized and pronounced clean, no fleas. He was in a bedroom two months and then moved to all areas of the house. I noticed him scratching but saw nothing. I felt a few itches here and there but no obvious bites. Tonight, 3 months after his...

    Previous cat pee

I fostered a cate that peed all over my house over a period of 6 years. Each time, I cleaned the pee up with hydrogin peroxide, baking soda and vinegar. The cat is in a lovely forever home (heated barn). Now, I have a new cat. He has been in a cage and empty room to begin a socialization...

Crate Training to Socialize a Stray Rescue

fish him out is a good word since that is what we had to do when he hid for 4 days.He is up and down; sometimes confident and lovey dovey, other times, stink eye aloof. He lays on his belly and lets me rub him. I will try another week. I have a dog so he has to get used to that critter, as...

    Going on a vacation?

I have had pet sitters and have also used a reliable kennel. I am a travel agent and don't recommend taking cats on vacations out of the country. There are rules re: quarantine in some countries. The stress of travel is a lot as well. Keep them home with a loved one or a nice warm kennel.

Moving my cat from the Caribbean to Cape Cod

If he leaves Bonaire, he'd see me more. I am in Bonaire 10 weeks a year. He would have to be inside due to predators on Cape Cod. Not sure how he'd love that. His entire 12 years he has been cared for my pet sitters as I have always gone back and forth.

    is this allowed

I have a house in the Caribbean where I have a cat. I am always seeking pet sitters to love him and enjoy the house. I do charge a small fee to help defray costs. I only allow cat lovers at the house. Is there a place on this site I can post the house and talk about my resident cat who seeks fun...

Moving my cat from the Caribbean to Cape Cod

I divide my time between Bonaire and Cape Cod. I had 6 cats but have one left. Alfred is the last of the litter and is a healthy happy 12.5 years of age.  When I am away from Bonaire, either my neighbor feeds him daily or I have pet sitters/renters at the house. Everyone loves him. There are a...

    LOOKING FOR GOOD LISTENERS

I love you for this. Maybe you can reach out to a girl scout or boy scout troop or anyone, to come help you socialize and feed them? This is a lot of cats and a big project to take on alone. You are doing very well. Stay strong and definitely, sterilize.

Crate Training to Socialize a Stray Rescue

How long do I keep him in the spare room? I feel bad he is in there all day alone. I do spend 3-5 hours working in there or even napping. It's ridiculous really. I feel so guilty. He has a nice chair and window.  He gives me the stink eye when I return from being away for hours. It doesn't take...

Crate Training to Socialize a Stray Rescue

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all purrrfectly happy. I was away for two weeks and Blanku was well loved by my long time pet sitter. She got him to rub her and kneed and purr. He came to her at the door of the crate as well. I have had similar experiences but not greeting me at the gate door. ...

Crate Training to Socialize a Stray Rescue

Blanku update I tried to spoon feed some baby food but he would not eat so I gave him a spoon and he ate in front of me. Also, he is cleaning himself in front of me often. I love it. Small baby steps are pure gold. I love this boy. I feel rather bad about Blanku. He is giving me stink eye...

Crate Training to Socialize a Stray Rescue

How I love you all...the support here is tremendous. We had a lovely morning. Doggie Confy, Blanku and I ate breakfast. Then, Blanku laid partially in his litter box, pressed his face against the crate and started LOUDLY meowing when I left the room. LOL...he wanted attention which I LOVE LOVE...

Crate Training to Socialize a Stray Rescue

Do folks prefer the solitary room vs the crate? Blanku seems brighter today and is a huge observer. We all socialize for breakfast, dog, me and Blanku. He is eating, using his litter box nicely and letting me rub his head a little.  I am away for a week so will do the crate during the time my...
