How is he getting along with the dog? Is it possible that he feels threatened by the dog when using the box? Have you tried cat attract litter to re-train your cat? Put the poop in the box to remind him that is where it should go.
Patience and persistence are the only advice I can give. Every cat is different so it is hard to say how long your training will take. Seeing that he uses it from time-to-time, that is encouraging. In addition to @Mamanyt1953’s advice, consider containing him in a small space. Keeping his living...
It takes cats some time to adjust to their new environment but sounds like she is warming up to you. Cats are most active in the early morning. Hence she is running while you are asleep. Try your hardest to ignore her. Hopefully she will slowly adapt to your sleep behavior. Keep playing with her...
@debjo18 - Yes! I use my Litter Robot with the Slide litter and it works well. I like that it doesn’t stick to the Litter Robot as much as the other brand. It keeps the cleaning mechanism from accidentally getting clogged.
Agree with @Yanaka on your cat’s preference for uncovered box. To keep the litter contained, you can put the litter box in another container. A kiddie pool came to mind. It’s low enough that cats can get in (or you can cut an opening to make it even lower) and it is fairly easy to sweep or...
Have you tried to cut the nails while your cat is asleep? I usually do that and cut one or two nails at a time (depending on how drowsy he is).
My other cat doesn’t like it at all but her nail would fall out naturally from running around the house. I’d usually find one or two dead nails per month.
Mine does it too and there is nothing that I could do to discourage him. I’ve concluded that it’s the curiosity nature of cats. I’ve developed a system when I come in by making sure I block the opening with whatever I have at hand (bag, newspaper, etc.). I do the same thing and walk in reverse...
Try Arm & Hammer Slide or the Clump & Seal version. Both are staple in my household and is MUCH better than Tidy Cats. The Tidy Cats is well known to track and dusty.
Your litter of choice is the most important factor in reducing tracking.
How are you placing your mats? Try to put it in the...
I also use kitchen trash bags, specifically glad odorshield, since that is what I already have around the house. Works fine and I don't feel that is is inferior to the manufacturer's waste bag.
Anything but the LightWeight! The lightweight design is hollow on the inside and because of that can fall apart easily with some pressure. The litter robot cleans by moving the litter around through the sifter. That much movement will disintegrate the lightweight litter and gives tons of dust...
I just got one and have been pretty happy with it. I bought it also because I have to travel quite frequent and tired of coming home to a stinky place. The litter sifting feature works quite well but only on clumping litter. The litter drawer is roomy but the spent litter has the tendency to...
Try adding an extra litter box next to Missy’s. Hopefully Luna will only use one and Missy gets her own box again. I believe Luna is using Missy’s box as a way to “dominate” her by covering Missy’s scent with hers. Female cats are the alphas in the cat world and looks like Luna is the new alpha...
Another vote for Arm & Hammer Litter, specifically the Slide line. It does really well at odor control and doesn’t track or dust much. Congrats on the new addition!
Seeing this is only his 3rd day in a strange new world, it makes sense. Cats feel safest in their own spaces, as marked by their scent. The litter box is where his scent is the strongest, hence he is sleeping in it.
Was the room accessible to the senior cat in the past? If yes, then the room...
Awww that is disappointing. I have not used the Precious Cat since they changed the packaging. I guess some formulation had changed as part of the revamp.
I recommend trying the Arm & Hammer line. Either the Clump & Seal or the Slide version has pretty low dust level. The Slide has no scent...
More pee indicates they are more hydrated. That is great, since cats usually don't drink enough (and therefor male cats are more prone to urinary tract issue). Unless the increased pee is coupled with other unusual behavior (e.g: vomiting, diarrhea, etc), it is not a bad problem (other than you...
First thing is to clean the pee out thoroughly with enzyme-based cleaners so the pee smell doesn't linger (you may not be able to smell it but cats can). Then you need to figure out who is peeing outside of the box. Make sure you have an extra litter box. Cats are highly territorial and they...
