    New Sibling for Manx boy

I currently own a 1 yr old Manx boy. As of right now I am unable to get a 2nd cat, but I would eventually like to get a 2nd cat. My boy is very social and loves attention, I fear that when I'm out of the house he will get lonely. We currently live with my parents so somebody is always home, but...

Growth Spurt? 1 year old Manx

I'm wondering if my 1 year old Manx boy is going through a growth spurt, if that's possible? He just recently turned 1, and is about 9 lbs right now. I know the Manx is a slower growing breed, and is known to keep growing past 1 year. He has grown pretty evenly so far, but seemed to be evening...

I suggest you read a couple threads on it in the raw food section, or do a little research. You might be surprised what you find, I sure was! 128513 I wish you the best

    Constipation?

The average vet doesn't have much knowledge on feline nutrition beyond what pet food company's tell them. I had a kitty with a genetic malformation in your colon, she was constantly getting constipated on normal cat foods. The vet wanted me to switch her to prescription foods, which just made...

    Constipation?

She stated above however that her cat is on an all meat diet, if that is true then that sort of poop is very normal, and in fact is quite natural. She can add a little pumpkin or sweet potato is she wants to soften then poop a bit, but judging from the diet, the cat doesn't sound constipated.

    Constipation?

The color of the stool will depend on what part of the animal they are eating. lighter color indicated bone, and darker is usally organ. It's good to have mix of everything. I wouldn't be to worried about it. My kitty on raw has similar poop. If she doesn't seem to be straining and is going on a...

    Eye Buggers

My kitty gets a lot of eye buggers, I usally clean his eyes 2+ times a day to make sure it doesn't build up to much. he's also white so it doesn't look very nice. I was wondering if anybody knows of a good product I can use for tear stains/eye buggers on him.

    Constipation?

Sorry if you wrote what you changed her diet to on another thread, but what are you feeding her. That sort of poop sounds like what you would see in a cat eating either an all meat wet food, or raw food, which means that it's actually a very healthy poop if so. Cats naturally are not designed to...

    Are Kitty Caps Ethical?!?

I just put kitty caps, the soft caps for their claws, on my kittens back paws. We have wood floors and he tends to go at them pretty hard with hisback paws when he runs, so we thought it would be a great idea, just the back paws. But now I'm reading that it's bad for them or something. I'm so...

    Cat Pet Insurance

I have a 7 month old kitten, and after spending close to $2000 on vet bills with my last cat I'm seriously considering getting pet insurence. I've looked at a few quotes already, does anybody have some experience with pet insurance and could let me know which is the best plan/company? He is 7...

Should I Send My Kitty to the Groomer?

I have a 7 month old Manx kitten, and I've noticed that he's been shedding a lot! I've never had this problem with my other kitties before, I give him baths at home every month and I brush him myself about once a week sometimes twice. He is short haired but has a double coat. I was wondering if...

So my cat and I are currently living with my parents. Im moving out in about a year and my parents are already thinking about getting another kitten when I move out. My parents want me to come visit every month once I move out, and bring my cat. But I'm just worried about how my kitty will...

    Kitten Keeping Eye Closed

My 6 month old kitten has been keeping one of his eyes shut all day. I put some contact solution in it to try to wash out anything, he seems to be opening it a little bit more, but still keeping it shut mostly. The lids look pink and irritated, when I open his eye the whites, pupid, iris, look...

New Kitten. Litter Box Issues and Nursing On Himself.

I just got a new 4 month old kitten on Monday. Since then he hasn't really been using his litter box. He will got to them and dig in them so I know he knows where they are, but he hasn't used it. Today he did pee in one of them, and I bought kitten attract to help him out, but still no poop. I...

    Manx Syndrome in Dock Tail??

From everything I read it's pretty rare for a dock tail kitten to get anyour of the same health problems, but I wanted to be super sure. And yes I've looked into the Japanese Bobtail, they are also one of my favorite breeds, but very few breeders breed them, the closest one I think I found was...

    Manx Syndrome in Dock Tail??

True a show quality Manx won't have a tail. It's a mutation in the breed that affects the spine that causes them to not have a tail, but manx kitties can have varying tail lengths. In fact like stated above, tailed kitties are very important to breeders because it is not ok to breed tailless to...

    Manx Syndrome in Dock Tail??

Although I like the no tail look or the short tail look, I really like the Manx breed for their personality. And I understand that some people don't agree with docking, I just don't really have a strong opinions for or against, I'm just more interested in the animals health for the future.

From what I have read the benefit of docking on a Manx is the prevent it from developing arthritis in the tail later. But ive also read that some people do it for cosmetic reasons.
