    Bandit crossed the Rainbow Bridge

Darkhorse321, I am so sorry for you with your loss of Bandit. I, too, recently had to have my 17-year-old sweetheart, Turtle, put to sleep. She never liked to be held, so I just cuddled her, petted her, and talked to her like I always did while our wonderful home vet administered the meds...

My sweet, sweet baby girl is gone...

It's getting a little better. At least I'm not bawling three or four times a day now. I started lighting a candle in her memory for several hours a day, and that has helped. Putting most of her things away made me feel like I was packing her away, so the candle thing definitely helps. Thanks again.

My sweet, sweet baby girl is gone...

Thank you all SO much! Sometimes the pain and grief is so bad, I just don't think I can make it through. Other times of the day, it lessens. Since I work from home, we were always together, and now it's so empty I can barely concentrate on anything. When my husband is home, that part is better...

    Phenobarbital Help Needed

Hi catzorz. I just spoke with the vet and she's suggesting we try the pills, which I'll cut into quarters. I'll cover in pill pockets and try to toss it down her throat (that would get it by her tongue and she wouldn't taste it).  If that doesn't work, I'll try crushing in some of those various...

    Phenobarbital Help Needed

Hi everyone! I need some advice. Quick background:  My dear sweet cat, Turtle, is 17 and has several health issues. Chronic pancreatitis started over a year ago and October of last year was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and third degree AV block. She takes two meds for the heart...

Famotidine (Pepcid) and other medications at the same time?

I just reread the instructions, and it doesn't say add the power to the water, but add water to the meat, cook the meat, and then add the power after the meat has cooled. So considering that, can I just add some power to the food she's now eating without any additional water? Didn't know if the...

Famotidine (Pepcid) and other medications at the same time?

Thanks, talkingpeanut. Received an answer from my vet and she said it was okay. I don't know if we're allowed to post links on here, so I'll just use the name. Are you referring to Know Better Pet Food, U-Stew powder for cats? So when you say mix it in with the eggs, should I mix the powder in...

Famotidine (Pepcid) and other medications at the same time?

Do you recommend anything in particular? I tried to find taurine treats, hoping to find something similar to the lysine treats she loves so much. Haven't found anything yet, but did find some chews (assuming soft chews) with taurine that state: "A complete multi-vitamin/mineral supplement with...

Famotidine (Pepcid) and other medications at the same time?

Talkingpeanut, yes, the vet said I could give the famotidine at the same time, but I started thinking about it later and wondering about it. No, she's not taking a taurine supplement. She takes one whole pill and one half pill each morning and then two half pills each night, crushed up in tuna...

Famotidine (Pepcid) and other medications at the same time?

Hi everyone. Is it okay to give my cat, Turtle, famotidine (Pepcid) at the same time as other medications? Turtle is on enalapril, furosemide (Lasix), prednisolone, and weekly B12 injections, which are the have-to-take meds. But because of her vomiting whenever she eats anything other than...

Have you even been faced with this decision . . .

Yes, I put the carrier out of sight!  She's doing pretty well right now. I know the meds will stop working at some point, but they appear to be doing a great job right now. Once I decided to take one day at time, as you mentioned, Loving Mickey, I'm much more at peace. She's definitely a...

Have you even been faced with this decision . . .

Thank you, everyone. I'm kind of at peace now about waiting. She seems happy and doing as well as she can be now considering all she has going on. I keep a close watch on her, of course, especially her respiratory rate (if that gets a lot faster, it more than likely means the Lasix dose she's on...
