I have a 15 year old cat who was howling alot (mostly in the evenings) for 2 years before I sought help. I just thought maybe all older cats did that. We tried pain meds, dementia meds, adjusting his thyroid medication dose and nothing helped until we tried Prozac. The change has been amazing!
After posting this question on some other sites as well, I'm pretty sure it's feline hyperesthesia, a type of seizure disorder that doesn't always need to be treated.

Wow! No vet has ever mentioned static electricity and we live in dry Denver. Although we lived here 4 years before he started this. Maybe it could be a skin problem though nothing is visible.

He had bloodwork a year ago and this month. I hadn't thought of a seeing or hearing problem. I think hyperesthesia is what the internal medicine vet thought it was.
