    IBD Question about elimination diet

So no symptoms while on steroids? I think you’d try a novel protein diet and then see if you are able to wean them off of steroids. If symptoms return, back on steroids and try again with a different diet.

IBD or? 6yo female spayed kitty with high creatinine, normal BUN and SDMA

Have the vets mentioned a prescription diet? My girl started vomiting quite a bit this past summer and was put on a hydrolyzed protein diet. She struck out on any novel protein I tried but some IBD cats can have their symptoms completely controlled through diet alone. She also has elevated...

What's a wet food your cat can't resist?

Sheba. Also, if they’re sick and being very picky and no dietary restrictions, Royal Canin mama cat and baby canned food - it’s like a soft whipped mousse.

    Inflammatory bowel disease

Yeah…IBD doesn’t come with a straightforward answer. My previous cat who had it was 100% controlled with prescription Royal Canin Gastrointestinal food and her only symptoms were diarrhea and voracious appetite. My current cat just had biopsies done because her symptoms (vomiting, weight loss...

Did your cat get a favorite gift?

One of my girls is recovering from surgery so both of their Christmas’s are delayed. But they’re getting catnip.

Possible seroma under my kitten’s spay incision area, not sure what to expect

Looks like they did buried sutures with surgical glue. For the life of me I don’t understand why some vets want surgical glue applied to a CAT’S easily accessible incision - it’s just asking them to fuss at it if only because they’re annoyed something is on their skin. Most vets I’ve worked with...

    Sudden death

Agree that it sounds like it was heart related but wanted to add, even if it was the heart a necropsy still might not provide any answers. For example, if it was an electrical problem with the heart, there won’t be any tell-tale sign and all the vet can do is guess. It’s a terrible thing to...

    IBD flare up treatment?

I took her in yesterday and the vet wanted to repeat her ultrasound and blood work. Bloodwork still showed elevated eosinophils but everything else was normal. Ultrasound report came be back today and she has increased thickening in her intestines. Going in for a full thickness biopsy to rule...

    IBD flare up treatment?

Ugh. She’s still vomiting and we’re on day 3. Cerenia didn’t appear to help at all. She doesn’t really vomit during the day but at night she’s up and down a lot. If she’s still vomiting tonight I think she’ll have to go in for another check up. Unfortunately my vet hasn’t sent home any steroids.

    IBD flare up treatment?

Those with IBD kitties, how do you handle IBD flare ups? My girl, who has eosinophilic IBD, is in the midst of what I suspect is another flare up after just having one a few weeks ago. She’s not wanting to eat much today, came very close to vomiting - lots of lip licking and some very unhappy...

Cat/kittens introduction- now kittens won't eat

If they’re acting normally otherwise then they should be eating. Sounds like a trip to the vet is in order to be safe.

Pet Food brand recommendations for cat with sensitive tummy and gastritis

I had excellent luck with this for one of my cats a few years back before she passed. She could literally eat nothing else. One of my current cats has food allergies and I had to go with RC Hydrolyzed.

Should a 7 month olds cat be on kitten formula food or adult food?

I typically feed kitten food until 1 year. There was one kitten who had to free feed an adult formula until 1 year since the resident cat would sneak/steal kitten food and they had dietary restrictions. But I worked with the vet to find something they both could eat and at what frequency...

    Kitten carrier training

Instead of putting her straight in the carrier I’d start by simply having the carrier in the same room when she eats. After a month or so start to slowly move the food closer to the carrier. Eventually move the food into the carrier but leave the door open. When she can enter the carrier and eat...

    Just dirty ears or Infection?

One of my girls has dirty ears. Not infected, just dirty. The vet said some cats just have dirty ears and as long as the ears aren’t red/inflamed, they’re not scratching them or shaking their head then they’re probably fine. I use Revolution on my girls so I know it’s not ear mites (also...
