Pan has this habit as well, although with the exception of the very rare toy mouse, his toy of choice is crumbled up paper balls, which handle the food bowl drops well enough, not so much in the water bowl :)

I have tried to do some research and have ideas of what it might be from overgrooming from itching or allergies to ringworm although neither seems to hit the nail on the head as to how it appears at the moment.
We noticed what seemed to be a redness or swollen look to his left eyelid/brow area...
Pan has a vet appointment coming up in the next month or so, so will get a better accurate reading then, but at 15 months he was 16 lbs (7/13) and through attempts at weighing since then we estimate he is into the 17 lb range. He is long, lean and I don't believe he is even borderline...
