catwoman707, thank you very much for your answer, it made me realize that I should already put her up for adoption, because I was waiting for her to be socialized, but if she goes into a new home and starts hiding again anyways (which is logical), then I might have missed out on a good adoptive...
The vet recommended the Feliway plug-in... I will probably get it, even though I find it's a little pricey. Will keep you guys posted! I really appreciate all the help and encouragement!
Hi ReiKitty,
Oh I really hope that it will be a magic number for us too! How would you get your scent on a tennis ball though? She is actually in the bathroom, as suggested by the people at the shelter.
Thanks for your help!
Hi Ouiser! That's so nice of you! She is still hiding, but after all I've read, I understood we had unrealistic expectations of how fast she would be used to us. So we just let her be, trying to make her days the most comfortable we can (dry and wet food, clean filtered water every day, litter...
Di and Bob, Ouiser, and Ritz, thank you SO much for your help and kind words. I will read all suggested reading and stay hopeful and positive that she will be a very happy cat in the future. Thank you!!
Hi,
We have taken in a seven year old female cat for fostering almost a month ago. She was taken out of an outside cat colony by the shelter because she seemed "adoptable". The vet seems to think she has spent most of her life outside, as she has teeth missing, a scar, she had ear mites upon...
Update: no abnormal cells in the urine reported by the external lab, which is good news. Waiting to talk to the vet who felt a lump in his bladder to see if we should do an ultrasound.
We just came back from the vet, indeed he has a urinary infection. He got some antibiotics and an anti-pain injection that is supposed to last a week. This vet (we saw a different one because we didn't want to wait two days to see the same one) felt a lump in his bladder. They did a urinalysis...
Thank you so much Sarah Ann, this is very helpful. I have an appointment for today. I will post the results of his visit here, in case someone else is going through this with their fur babies.
Thank you cprcheetah. The vet checked his anal glands manually and said they seemed normal; do you know if testing for an infection would require further methods?
Thanks for your response. I had begun changing their food to Happy Tails maybe three weeks ago, and still haven't passed the stage of putting in no more than 25% of the new food. I told the vet about it, she didn't think much of it. She didn't do blood tests yet, that would be the next step. By...
Hello everyone,
My 8 years and a half male cat (sterilized, 15 pound (he's a big guy; vet says he is not overweight)) started being sick five days ago. He vomited on three different occasions (several hours apart), and it did not look like hairballs. He looked apathetic and was making weird and...
