Hello, all,
I'd like your opinions on my most recent vet bill, which I think is a little on the high side.
I took my cat in because she's been feeling sick on and off for the past few weeks. They ran some general bloodwork in-house, and charged me about $180 for it. The vet who checked my cat...
I'm happy to report that the two cats are sitting < 1 ft. apart, and haven't shown any hostility to each other for several days. We're still supervising them, of course, but it's looking like everything is good. The younger cat is also exploring the rest of the house, no longer confining herself...
Both of my current cats came from shelters.
The older one had been relinquished to the shelter when her owner died. She had come from a household with two cats, her and her littermate, who I didn't adopt as I couldn't take care of two cats at the time. That day, I had picked out a few cats to...
Come to think of it, she does look much more like a Snowshoe than a Ragdoll. When I took her to the vet today, she also mentioned this breed as a possibility.
Rocket's a beauty, too!
At one time, the older cat was distracted by a catnip toy when they were in the same room, so I'll remember to have toys and treats on hand the next time they see each other. In the meantime, I'll just continue with the exchanging of scents.
Thanks!
I adopted this little beauty from the shelter ten days ago. She's clearly a mixed breed cat, but judging by the eye color and coat pattern it looks like she might have some Ragdoll genes.
Hi, all! It's been a while since I last posted here, but I recently adopted a new cat, and am in need of some advice on cat introductions.
My resident cat is now about 7 years old, and pretty much as friendly and affectionate of a cat as they come; she's never shown any aggression toward...
Trader Joe's wet cat food is remarkably good for its low price (69 cents a 5.5 oz can). I've heard great things about it, though this food is only available at Trader Joe's in three varieties.
I forgot to mention that the Catnip Cyclone/Hurricane are those circular track-type toys in which the ball moves around the track. There's a hole in the center of the track in which you put catnip; the catnip doesn't go into the ball.
The Bowtie Chaser (from the same manufacturer as the Cat Charmer) is also a great toy, at least in my experience. My cat chases it around voluntarily, and works herself in to quite a frenzy doing so. She will also chase it almost every time I toss it.
You could try one of those "glitter pom...
Every day, my cat goes through these episodes in which she acts generally crazy, running around like mad as if she were chasing invisible prey. As I understand it, this happens to indoor cats who are bored and need to burn off some excess energy.
She also likes to stand up on her hind legs and...
Thank you both for your responses!
@Ondine: As for the noisy can tactic, I can't do it every time she scratches because I work 8-hour days five days a week, so it's going to have to be a deterrent that'll stay when I'm away. And I will definitely try using a pet-safe and wool-safe...
Hi, thank you both for your warm welcome!
@CatByTheSea: I did provide her with many scratching surfaces, and it's not that she ignores them completely, but that she does still scratch the carpets when she's bored or in one of her excitable moods. I'm going to attempt a citrus-scented spray one...
Thank you for your responses!
@Denice: I don't believe she has eaten beef before, though I am not 100% sure. I am sure I have not fed her anything containing beef, at least as a primary ingredient.
@Franksmom: Thank you for the link. I have actually read Dr. Pierson's nutrition article in...
