Thanks guys...that PDF in particular was great. I don't think I'm going to do Franken prey...but at least I know what my options are. I am rescuing a 3 yo pit bull...so I look forward to just getting her healthy with good diet to start, and I will tailor the feeding to her personality in time...
Hi, Ive been feeding my 2 cats raw food (Dr. Pierson recipe) since I've had them for over a year....they are the best, healthiest kitties you've ever seen...a majority of their awesomeness is credited to their diet.
Anyway, the wife and I are thinking about adopting a dog to join the clan, and...
I always warm my food up...Ive never tried to give it cold. Its easy, I portion it out into a plastic tupperware...nuke it for 15 sec, stir, nuke 15 more sec, stir
this is for 4oz for 2 cats, less microwave time for less food.
So we are talking about the Collar that holds the grinding die, blades, and auger in place?....Is it cross-threaded?...ie did you start to put it on crooked, and then got it stuck?
What you need is a vice and a big wrench. Do you know anyone who has tools?...and friends with husbands, etc...
Ive had my kittens for about 6 month, and been feeding them raw since I got them, they are now about 9 & 7.5mo
YES, I am still happy with the diet,
- EVERYONE comments on how incredibly soft they are...I think I take it for granted, but they do have super soft chinchilla-like fur (and they...
My Male-6 mo, and female-7.5mo are definitely eating less than they did a few months ago...I have them down to about 7oz/day ea. spread over 3 meals. Sometimes they eat it all, and sometimes they leave some...I'm trying to pay attention to that...but I am wondering if they are still eating too...
Im sorry, what? I have to call BS on this (no offense, I hope its ok to disagree). Microwaves do nothing more than excite (ie. vibrate) fat and water molecules. Molecular structure is not 'altered', it does not change the chemistry of the food. That being said, nutritional value is no...
I was asking about this when I started too.
Alot of good info in my thread: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/261445/need-help-i-want-to-go-raw-but-my-wife-is-scared-of-salmonella#post_3376978
Also consider:
Kibble is just as, if not more likely to have salmonella than meticulously prepared raw...
Wow, I have never heard of this issue before...re-introduction after the vet.
I have to take my almost 5mo old male to get neutered next month, I hope this doesn't happen to me.
...I had a thought....to get rid of the vet smell...why don't you just give the kitten a bath?
Also, get some...
The most effective technique I have found at behavioral correction with my kittens, believe it or not, is growling. Like if they start getting to nosy when I'm eating, or if they go after our orchid, I just get down at eye level and give a little growl...kind of like a deep hum, closed mouth...
Dream raider...I know the feeling about wasting the kibble you have...I abhor waste. However, $50 is a drop in the bucket compared to a lifetime of pet care. If you are going to do raw diet, just start now....why wait? Isn't a better smelling house worth $50? Give the kibble away, or take...
I've started microwaving the food instead of the tap water deal...it is MUCH less hassle. 15 sec seems just right for 4 oz (for 2 cats).
Next batch I will get throw-away plastic ware for packaging.
It won't be able to get much simpler than that...thanks TCS
