We try to keep our cats inside, but Hungry loves going outside so much that when he sneaks out the door, we sometimes let him stay out. Usually he comes back after 1-2 hours. This morning my husband was letting the dog out and wasn't careful since Hungry has never left the house immediately...

I leave the dog crated while I feed the cats, then I take the dog outside for a few minutes, then he comes back in with me and makes a beeline for the cats' dishes. USUALLY they've finished eating by then, but if not, double breakfast for doggie! The cats don't like it, but they back away slowly...

Okay, I tried it with some leftover Grreat Choice pate and hot tap water. Mr. Friendly picked out as much pate as he could and left the "gravy." Miss Timid looked at me like "are you nuts" and backed away slowly. Not so much of a success! However, the refrigerated food was in a glass container...

Like yesterday I found out Iams canned foods are outsourced to Simmons.

I called, and they said their canned food is manufactured in South Dakota IN THEIR OWN PLANT, which always makes me feel better. I am suspicious of the quality control when outsourcing is involved.

Oh, it looks like there is one in a neighboring town. I have never been there. I will have to check it out. Thanks

No Trader Joe's, nor anything else cool either (Costco, Whole Foods, etc.). Just your standard big box stores like Petsmart. I do order from Chewy sometimes.

I e-mailed Nutro to ask where Nutro Max canned cat food is manufactured. To their credit, they wrote back right away. Here is what they said:  "I would be happy to address your inquiry. All of the NUTRO174 products are manufactured in North America." Okay well that narrows it down at...

I looked it up and it appears there's some doubt about where it's canned. Other than that, it looks good.

Can you mix refrigerated canned cat food with hot tap water, thereby avoiding the microwave, improving the temperature, AND adding hydration to the meals? Because I really might do that if it is easy to do and saves money.

Authority, YES I've considered it, I'm just not sure it's enough better than Grreat Choice to justify the price increase--they're manufactured by the same company, plus Authority has rice in it, and I'm not bothered by the by-products in Grreat Choice. Hound and Gatos is too expensive. Thanks...
