sneezes... never really stopped... your thoughts on why?

Not saying it's what is effecting your kitty, but cats who have had feline herpes virus in the past become lifelong carries. Some kitties will shed the virus at various times over the life and have symptoms. I know someone with a cat who is a carrier and his only symptom is sneezing...

    Chronic eye infections

I would suggest a veterinary ophthalmologist. When my eldest was young, they thought he has a chronic virus carrier and had him on lysine. When that did nothing, we took him to the ophthalmologist. Turns out he has no tear ducts and entropion (rolled eyelids). They did entropion surgery on his...

    Another issue after kidney failure...

Hi there. Did they try a B-12 injection, an appetite stimulant, or anti-nausea/ antacid medication? Sometimes those can help kitties with CKD.

    Hyperthyroidism Experience?

I had a 17 year old with kidney disease and secondary hyperthyroidism. Our vet felt that because of his age and the CKD, feeding him Y/D was the best option. It did keep his thyroid numbers in check up until he eventually passed away renal failure.

    Liver in Renal diets

Yep. 1/8 to 1/4 tsp twice a day is what my vet recommended.

No good cat food available in the market!

One of my cats eats some Sheba food as well. She's picky so as long as she will eat some wet I am OK with it. I don't know if the ingredients are different depending on the country, but here in America, the pate she eats has no byproducts or carrageenan listed.

    Liver in Renal diets

Thank you. I will try to find an analysis and I will ask my vet about the psyllium. Already using the Miralax as the vet instructed.

    Liver in Renal diets

Thank you for taking the time to respond. He has had renal insufficiency for several years now. His numbers have been pretty stable during that time eating a non renal diet dry food. He wouldn't eat any wet for years after it consisted of a good portion of his diet when he was younger. The...

    What's wrong with my cat?

Sorry to hear about your kitty. Probably a dumb question, but did they check her for Giardia? I had a female Maine Coon who had food intolerances and we went through countless prescription diets until finally finding Instinct Turkey LID dry and wet. She did really well on it for years and was...

    Liver in Renal diets

Thank you for the advice. The RC dry Renal we tried gave him diarrhea despite doing a very slow transition. I don't remember which one it was. The dry kd did the same. I think it is the wheat as it is the common factor and he had diarrhea on a food with wheat before as well. I suppose it could...

    Liver in Renal diets

So my elderly cat has recently switched to wet renal food and I noticed liver (usually pork) is really high up on the ingredient lists. His favorite variety, has it listed as the second ingredient after water. I thought liver was really high in vitamin A? I worry about him eating so much liver...

Healthy novel protein dry food suggestions (maybe IBD)

My cat with food intolerances/allergies did really well on Natures Variety Instinct Turkey Wet/ Dry. Her energy level, coat and body condition dramatically improved from the RC Duck as well. We tried the Blue Duck, but she didn't like it. It was kind of a last resort try, as the dermatologist...

My cat will only eat squeezable cat treats

Nulo and Tiki Cat both make mousse style cat food in pouches. Maybe your kitty would like those? The Made By Nacho pates that come in the boxes are also quite smooth.

    Finicky eater won't eat

Yes it was just a tiny little pill. Just have to wear gloves when handling it and be watchful as kitty was crafty and would hold it in her mouth and spit it out later on occasion. Not something you want other pets/household members to come into contact with. I remember the vet telling us...

    Finicky eater won't eat

Sorry to hear this. Hopefully it is inflammation from IBD and not cancer. Since you asked about chemo, I had a kitty with lifelong IBD that turned into intestinal cancer. She had an at home chemo pill and prednisolone. She handled it really well (vet told us kitties in general usually handle...
