    Clawing Behaviour?

Community, Thank you so much for guidance in working with my rescue /adopted Calico , Gemma. From Catsite , I learned to trim her claws at home. She now lets me do this easily. Unfortunately, she is still destroying the furniture when I am away for a long weekend or business trip. Please...

    Are Calico Different?

Thanks so much, I have also the experience with "love bites" -- gentle contact with teeth that says "pet me more". No worries. I just keep petting and scratching. Please do you know why a female cat backs up to thngs and shakes like a tom? She does this all the time.

I took her in for routine vaccinations last week and the doctor commented that "she is so calm for a calico" . The doctor told me that Calicos are different : more assertive, demanding, independent...

19 year old cat... Need help!!!!!

I think this is a veterinary emergency. Very dark stools signify bleeding in the intestinal tract. Vomiting in combination with this points to intestinal blockage or other gastro intestinal disorder. You mentioned not eating. Is your cat drinking? Cats can survive a while with out food, but...

    Hi from a Newbie!

Bobkater, Thanks! I have a cat tree for her, but she never showed interest. I purchased two additional scratching places for her. One is of natural fiber, the other of cardboard. I place dried catnip on these scratching posts and Gemma seems to like them and uses them often. I reward her...

    Hi from a Newbie!

Molly92, Thanks for the helpful advice. Gemma does allow her paws to be handled (front more than back), and I will keep working on this, with the 'treat' incentives you recommend. You are correct, her claws are white; I can see the end of the blood vessel. Will just trim conservatively and let...
