Well, we took her back Friday morning. They have now discovered a heart murmur. A gallop. So, not good. She is being tapered off the prednisone and continuing on the antibiotic for another two weeks. Her lips are a tad pinker, her appetite is up... I really can't tell, but I hope she hangs...
Hi, thanks for the response. We were at the vet on Wednesday the 22nd. She weighed about ten pounds. Less than sue used to be.
She was started on 5 mg tablets of prednisone and 20 ml of doxycycline, both twice a day. After three days we were told to drop the prednisone to half a tablet...
We've lessened the dose of steroids, per vet directions, but I'm worried that it was too soon. We're not seeing any change in the colour of her gums and she's really not eating much at all. She IS talking more, again. :) They said to watch her for changes for the worse after lowering her...
Lovely kitties. :) Thanks for the welcome. My dad built me a wooden aquarium stand, very sturdy, with one tank on the bottom, about a foot off the floor and one at people viewing level. I keep a small fold up step by the bottom one, the cats love it. When FishyFishy was still alive, she was...
Actually, the blue/grey one is Melvin aka Bud. He mostly eats 'wild game', but some of my well meaning neighbours still feed him, though I've asked them not to. He was a stray in our area for quite a while before we adopted him and a few people helped to nourish him through that time. He...
Melvin interrupted us once. He heard me making strange noises and crept up the bed to look at our faces and see what all the fuss was about. Needless to say, the man laughed, the moment was lost and I said no more pets in the room during....
That being said, is there any way you can maybe...
She gets loads of attention and she and Boy are inseparable. :) The only thing that's changed is her appetite and girth. lol I asked the vet today, when I was picking up stuff for Kalicat about thyroid stuff, but they said cats lose weight when they have thyroid issues, unlike dogs who may...
Hi, thanks for your reply. :)
She wasn't like this when we first invited her to join our menagerie. It's only been in the last two or three months that she started asking for more and more food, which wouldn't be an issue if she weren't also getting quite tubby. When I started noticing her...
Hi, nice to meet lots of cat lovers. I presently have three of them, along with a dog, gecko, fish and a man. ;)
Our first beast, Melvin aka Bud aka My Kitty, Kitty, Kitty was a stray in our neighbourhood, four summers ago. He has russian blue in him, so his coat is extra thick. He...
Looks a lot like my russian blue cross that we rescued. Or rather, like my cat USED to look like. He's put on a few pounds and is usually covered in sand and grit from rolling on the ground, the odd slug or snail attached to his belly fur. lol
She wouldn't be happy moving while she's sick. She's been at the apartment she's in now for about two years. The vet thinks the anemia started quite some time back, but was slow, until the last couple of weeks. She has certain spots she's comfortable lying in, so best she stay there. ...
I have three cats, one is an outdoor cat and two are indoor, unless it's lovely weather, then it's harness/leash day on lawn. My middle baby, Boy has decided to assert his position in the household and most notably, his position as MY Boy. Swizzle, our youngest, is the object of his...
I rescued Boy in December just over two years ago, he was about 2 months old at the time and feral. It took a lonnnnnnnng time for him to realize that he could trust me implicitly. That went a long way to harness/leash training him the following spring.
I would choose a quiet time of day...
Hi, I just joined this forum today, I've already asked a question in the behaviour forum, but I have another question regarding my daughters cat.
She's not living with us, she's an adult, so I didn't see her cat as frequently as when she lived here. At the beginning of this week I went over...
