    Animal digging up pet grave

Our cat died back in March, and we buried him in our back yard. The ground was still partially frozen, so we could only bury him about 2 feet down. In the past few weeks, something keeps digging around his grave. We can't figure out why it started happening after 6 months. This morning it...

    Cats and Tuna

My cat was sick, and was not eating, and the vet instructed me to feed him tuna fish. Now I have read articles saying NOT to feed cats tuna fish, because it can cause health problems. Does anybody know anything about this? The cat did end up dying, probably not because of the tuna fish.

Should I Get Rid Of My Cat?

You should keep the cat. We had a female cat who was okay with us, but not the friendliest cat. She had her nice moments, but liked to growl and hiss at our visitors. We kept her until she died at 12, almost 13 years old, and we gave her a loving home. They all have their personalities...

My Cat Pee'd on my Bed

My current cat (male) peed on our bed twice and my daughter's bed once. He was 1 year old and not yet neutered. We since had him neutered, and he has not done this since, so I'm guessing it was related to that. Are your cats fixed? My previous cat (male) started peeing in strange place, and...

    Neutering and has parts

This is all funny! My previous cat was neutered when we got him at 9 months, so I don't know how old he was when he was neutered. He came from a shelter. I also took him to the vet and the vet said he was a spayed female! (He has an incision on his stomach, which we also aren't sure what...

    Reasonable vet fees?

I just took a new cat that we adopted to the vet, and the exam alone was $45. Since we adopted him, they waived it, or the Humane League paid for it. After the medications and other issues (ear mites, upper respiratory infection), the total bill was $160. It can be expensive.

    Neutering and has parts

Are there different ways of neutering a male cat? MY previous cat was a neutered male, and I couldn't see any of his parts, ever. My current cat was just neutered, and I still see his penis when he cleans, and he also still has his sacks in the back. They said they removed the "nuggets" and...

Do boy cat's personalities change after being neutered ?

We had our 1 year old male neutered yesterday. He came from the shelter, so he was neutered "late" compared to many others. Prior to this, he was very friendly, but he also walked around meowing a lot. I think he wanted to get out and find a girl cat. So far, the meowing has stopped, and he...

    Cat Meowing

We have had this cat for about 2-1/2 weeks. Over the past few days, he has really started meowing. He just walks around looking at us and meowing, and also at night. He is also not yet neutered. He is 1 year old, and we have had to reschedule the neutering twice because he has had an upper...

    Question about neutering

We are having similar issues. We just rescued a male cat, about 1 year old, who was a stray but is unneutered. We have had to re-schedule his surgery 3 times now because he has an upper respiratory infection and bartonella disease. He is now scheduled for next Tuesday, and I hope he can be...

    Bartonella Disease

Thanks for the reply. We have only had this cat 2-1/2 weeks, but he has had an URI most of the time. Our previous cat also got a URI, but I don't think it lasted more than a week. I think we are getting the same antibiotic, because I am getting it in liver flavor, so hopefully my kitty will...

    Fang's penis

My cat's is also this color. He is not neutered yet (we just got him from the shelter, and we are waiting for him to get over a URI before they can neuter him). I assumed I was only seeing it because he is not neutered. I had a male cat before, and I never saw his, and I assumed it was...

    Bartonella Disease

I just did a search, and you are right, there are a lot of helpful threads.

    Bartonella AKA Cat Scratch Disease/Fever

My cat was just diagnosed with Bartonella today (he had a blood test last week). This information helps. It sounds like the disease is controllable/curable and has no long term effects. My cat is 1, and I got him from a shelter. He had been listed as stray/at large, so that indicates he was...

    Bartonella Disease

My cat was just diagnosed with Bartonella disease. He is going to be placed on some new antibiotics for this (he has been fighting an upper respiratory infection for several weeks). Has anybody else has cats with this disease? Are there any long term problems?
