Do your indoor onlies wear collars....why or why not?

P.Kitty wears a break-away collar with a reflective tag since he is all black. If he got out, and he does try, I'd want cars to have a chance of seeing him. I had gotten him a reflective collar, but he scratched the reflective stuff off, and that can't be good for him. Also we got him as a cat...

P.Kitty sprayed by skunk right in the face

Thanks! I went to 3 pet stores and called my vet, but no one has "Skunk off", just Nature's Miracle. Since the peroxide made me nervous, I made a solution of baby shampoo and just a tiny bit of detergent (since that was an ingredient in the recipes above). Into the tub we went (me in old...

    Leash Training a Bombay

I gpt P.Kitty as a 3 year old from the pound. We bought him an H harness and very light nylon leads (they are 10', so we bought 2). Our walks are definitely more me following him than say a dog walk, but over time it is where he will listen and go where I lead about half the time. We had him...

P.Kitty sprayed by skunk right in the face

P.Kitty was about 20ft away, just dozing. We live in the country (and have coyotes, bobcats, etc.. and that is why we don't let the cat roam free). This young skunk just waddled up and when P.Kitty saw him, he just tore off after him. His leash is a very light thin nylon rope with latches on...

P.Kitty sprayed by skunk right in the face

Last weekend P.Kitty tangled with a skunk (while on his leash and harness while we were eating at our picnic table). We've washed him 3 times with Nature's Miracle, which worked for us in the past with previous cat,but it is not working with P.Kitty very well. Since he was blasted in the face...

Ate outside grass, trying to throw up

Hi all. P.Kitty ate some outside grass (not the kitty grass I keep for him in the house) and it doesn't seem to be agreeing with him. He keeps trying to vomit, but so far has only vomitted a small amount of clearish liquid. Anything I can do to help him eliminate the bad grass? He seems...

Cat wants 2 litter boxes... one for peeing, one for poo

We were gone for 3 days/2 nights and decided to see how P.Kitty could do on his own (hoping to get away for weekends!). I clean his litter box every day like clockwork, so I wasn't sure how he'd he do with unclean litter. My solution was to put out two litter boxes. Well, he only peed in one...

    Sturdy cat tree?

I bought an inexpensive tree of E-Bay, and then my huband bolted a big thick piece of butcher block to the bottom. It's bigger and heavier than the original base, and P.Kitty has not been able to even make it wobble- not even when in crazy-cat psycho mode tearing around the house. We used a...

    Question on cat eating grass***

I buy the organic wheat grass at the grocery. It's cheaper than the cat grass pots, I know no chemicals or pesticides were used, and P.Kitty loves it. I stick the plastic pot in a ceramic food dish that is just big enough to "hold" the plastic pot snugly so it doesn't pull up when he pulls on...

    frantic kneading

P.Kitty kneads regularly, too, on a balled up wool afghan. He'll get all four paws on it and knead for a good five minutes. He gets a real funny expression - we say he is in the "kitty zone" 'cuz he looks so intense and focused. Seems to soothe him. Maybe you can start substituting something...

    leash training

We used a similar approach to train P.Kitty. Sometimes we would only be outside for 5 minutes, and he'd dp his very best sway back routine (reminds me of Snoopy pretending to choke on the leash!). But we'd put him back in the house, with harness but no leash, until he begged to go out again...

Anyone know of a high energy/good get-out-aggression toy???

My cats have always loved regular old Peacock feathers and those carpet remnent squares in the berber texture. We roll them up with the carpet on the outside so the feathers can be peeked through it. When P.Kits is feeling a little aggressive, he'll climb on top of the carpet tube and haul off...

    I think P.Kitty had a seizure...how do I know for sure?

P.Kits blood work came back, and he looks healthy. So your advise was right on - it was a fluke. But I am happy he's got a clean bill of health.

    Rolling around in dirt?

Meow-Meow, my cat who passed last year, loved rolling in dirt like nothing else. I'd use a dampened (and no longer white!) washcloth on him before he came in - helped the furniture a bit...

    I think P.Kitty had a seizure...how do I know for sure?

Your information wasn't bad... this is probably just a one-off incident, and I'd have thought the same thing you did if I hadn't seen P.Kits stalk enough lizards in our yard. And rushing him to the vet wouldn't have changed anything... but getting a good night sleep helped everything! So no...
