    Valerian Root....anyone use this successfully?

Sorry for the confusion...I meant open floor plan (of a sort).  We live in a 100+ year old farm house and there are no closed off rooms or levels.  It's all accessible pretty much all the time.   The new girl, Lily, isn't quite one year yet and has had a really hard-knock life.  She's tame, but...

    Valerian Root....anyone use this successfully?

Thanks, 2Cats.  I've been keeping a behavior log on my girls and as the barometric pressure changes, one of my girls gets REALLY aggressive.  I used catnip on her this time, but I may try valerian later.  During the day when I'm "stalking" her behavior is one thing.....at night when she's being...

    Valerian Root....anyone use this successfully?

Has anyone used Valerian Root powder with cats to control their aggression?  It was suggested to me that it would be especially good at night (Hubby takes it to sleep and so we always have it in the house).   Catnip does make Lily mellow for awhile, but not through the night.   IF you have...

    Nursing mama SO SKINNY!

I asked for some help awhile back from the group for an emaciated mama cat and her five babies dropped off on my property.  I had to update somewhere, so I chose this forum.  Hope that's ok.  As of tonight, I have the mother inside with us and all FIVE of her babies that had been sent to foster...

New kitty adversely affecting my previously abused older cat

Hmmmm.  Update:  Our older abused cat FINALLY came out of hiding today.  She's not "thrilled" with the new cat, but she doesn't seem as afraid or upset anymore.  Still going to call the vet tomorrow, but I'm thinking that for this precise moment, she seems better.  I did put clary sage (one drop...

New kitty adversely affecting my previously abused older cat

Lily has suddenly had an adverse effect on our older (5-6 year old) previously abused cat.  All are fixed and in sound health (just had their annuals within the past three weeks with the older cat being within the past ten days). The older cat gets "moody" at times with weather changes...

    Nursing mama SO SKINNY!

Just a final note as an update here:  Mama Lily got her spay yesterday and seems to be doing ok considering how emaciated she was.  Kittens are in foster care and their vet has checked them out saying they're doing great and are extremely healthy.  They will be spayed or neutered before adoption...

    Nursing mama SO SKINNY!

The babies are just over 8 weeks at present and will be fostered by a local no-kill shelter with one of their fosters.  Vet says they're doing superbly and it's time to make the switch so the mama can beef up for her surgery.  I'm working now on a transfer date closer to 9+ weeks for the...

    Nursing mama SO SKINNY!

Just a quick update. Lily just returned from the vet.  Her leukemia combo test is negative and that means her babies can be fostered by the no-kill shelter. :) Lily got a lot of vaccines and other tests performed today.  The vet said she's up to nearly six pounds now!!  (thanks to the advice...
