Did we do the right thing?

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately we do not have the money to save a cat in such dire circumstances. We have several of our own animals, and of course have to save such funds for them. My husband is a professionally trained shooter (ex cop) so yes, he would have shot again if needed...

Did we do the right thing?

Tonight we had to make a hard and quick decision. There is a group of ferals living near our property that our neighbors feed but give no other care whatsoever, and none have been neutered. So you can see where this has led..lots of cats, and several seem sick. We previously had taken in a...

    Neutered male cat peeing everywhere

Well the woman who fostered him before he came to me said he did it, that's why I've always assumed he would. He's also eaten cat vomit/hair balls when he noticed it before we did..so I have little doubt he'd eat cat poop. Well I'm getting the special litter box that I can put out in the...

    Neutered male cat peeing everywhere

Well he's still doing it. I'm going to get some of that cat attract litter and one of those covered litter boxes tonight to see if that helps. He doesn't do anything to indicate pain or discomfort. The problem is in 2 days we're going out of town for a week..my parents are coming to feed the...

    Neutered male cat peeing everywhere

Well thanks for the advice! WEll we put the old litter box back out, and he used it! SO here's to hoping that's all the problem was. When he saw it he immediatly jumped in and used it, then spent some time burying it, then went again! So maybe he was just sick of the toilet training method...

    Neutered male cat peeing everywhere

Oh that litter box is a good idea. He's a greyhound, so I'd have to look at it, but I don't think he could get in there. I'll try that if just going back ot the regular box dones't work.

    Neutered male cat peeing everywhere

I'm sorry, I was (and am still) pretty upset about this. What I meant was, I won't be able to deal with if we can't fix it. Don't get me wrong, I want to try everything we can to fix this problem. But I can't forever live in a house that smells like cat pee! Well when I get home from work...

    Neutered male cat peeing everywhere

We've had this cat for about a year, adopted him, he's probably about 2 years old. Up until 2 or 3 weeks ago he's been absolutely perfect with the litter box. Now he's peeing everywhere else. It started off being once every few days, today he's peed twice in the house. I don't think it's...

    Septic safe litter

I'm planning to try to toilet train our two cats..and I want to start using a litter that is septic safe. I don't intend to dump any down the toilet, but with the insert (the litter kwitter system) I know some litter will accidently get in the toilet. So what would be the best for this? I...

First time feeding of ferals! How should we procede?

Hey thanks for the advicE!! I'm waiting to get a chance to talk to my neighbor about it..I'd definately want to get the ear marked, so I know I've had the cat fixed

    cat collars and bells cruel?

I use the breakaway collars on my cats too so that they couldn't end up strangled..but I have a question, what about the dog? My dog is a greyhound and has to wear a martingale collar so he can't slip out of it, do they make martingales with the breakaway feature?

First time feeding of ferals! How should we procede?

Our neighbor does feed them, and you're right, it'd probably be easier to trap them at his place, if he's ok with it (which I don't see why he wouldn't be). Honestly, I had not thought of that solution!! The only issue I can see with this, is I'd like to be able to keep an eye on the health...

    cat collars and bells cruel?

My 2 cats and my dogs all wear collars..they all have tags on them and the cats have the bells. My reason for the bells is simple...the 2 cats love to, in the middle of the night, come running up and leap onto us as we're sleeping, scaring the crap out of me. So this gives me a warning...

First time feeding of ferals! How should we procede?

So to recap: my husband and I found a young kitten we fell in love with (and named Whisper) and subsequently had to put to sleep b/c she had feline leukemia. She's the offspring of a group of feral/stray cats that live by our house. I want to start feeding them, neutering them, and testing...
