Pees in box but poops outside of box

Our 11 year old neutered male always urinates in the litter box, but he has started to poop outside the box, often in the next room. He looks and acts well and has a good appetite. Any ideas? Thanks. P.S. There are no other animals in the house

My Adult Cat Started Playing With Her Tail

My 8-year-old Egyptian Mau female has never acted kittenish before. A week ago, she started playing with her tail, like a kitten. She tries to grab it and sometimes chases it in a circle. When she gets hold of it, she licks it for a few seconds and then lets it go. I examined her tail and...

    Persistent Congestion

Our 11 year old Siamese female became nasally congested, with yellow mucus discharge from one nostril. Took her to the vet, who said that her temperature was normal. So was her blood work. She can smell enough to eat strongly smelling cat food, and she is drinking adequately. The vet has...

    Siamese weight

Our 3 year old traditional Siamese (lynx point) weighs 15 pounds.  He has a large-boned frame and is healthy and active.  He has a noticeable waist line, and I can feel his ribs with just slight pressure.  Our vet says he is overweight and advised us to put him on a lower calorie diet.  She...

    Prevent urinary blockage

We have had bad luck with male cats in the past.  Most of them developed urinary crystals that caused serious blockages.  We now have a five-month-old male kitten that will be neutered a month from now and we are worried about him.  We feed our two adult females two meals of Science Diet dry...

    New kitten, unexpected problem

Thanks for your reply.  We read several pieces about non-recognition on the internet.  I then sprayed some light-scented fragrance on my hand and petted the two adults and the kitten on the head and back.  They now smell alike.  The tension level has gone way down.  It really worked.

    New kitten, unexpected problem

We have two resident cats, both spayed females.  One is 6 years old and the other is 2 years.  They have been inseparable companions.  They groom each other and sleep together.  Recently, we introduced a new (male) kitten.  We followed the recommended steps for introducing the newcomer to the...
