to fix the peeing problem, as soon as he starts to squat (you should know what to look for by now), pick him up (even if he's mid-pee) and put him in the litter box as quickly as possible without scaring him. After that, give him a treat, and try not to take it so personally that he peed on...
That's like saying without knowing your heritage you can't call yourself "white" or something. Of course you can. I never said they were purely bred.
Vet opinions + http://russianblue.info/bluecats/bluecats.htm - Profile definitely matches Russian Blue, same with Ears, Head, and Coat and...
The previous cats that were my masters didn't need their litter box cleaned so much. Maybe once every couple of days... which didn't bother me. But I also have a 1 bedroom apartment right now. So having a litter box just stinks up the entire apartment.
I'm a male - 28 that loves cats, but one further: I cannot stand dogs. Annoying, smelly, creatures. The only things that stink about cats are their litter box (which I'm hoping to eliminate now with the toilet training).
I actually swayed my g/f to be a cat lover. She'll never go back to...
They aren't like.. pedigreed "these are russian blues from Gizmo" or something like that. But we've taken them to 3 vets and they all confirm that they are russian blues (most definitely mixed).
Plus I saw on Cats 101, I have one cat that looks like he could be show worthy - good smiling...
Trust me, I was cleaning the litter 3-4 times a day. Alaistor just won't go in a dirty/smelly box. Cleaning the litter 3-4x a day was starting to get on my nerves. I can't imagine doing that for 20 more years, without at least having tried to toilet train them. I also had to throw out the...
I'm 28 years old and have grown up with cats my entire life except for a 6.5 year hiatus (college). My parents were divorced since I was 1 year old, and they've both been cat owners. My dad has had two tabbies that look like the "Morris" kind. Kind of loud and yappy if you ask me. Kind of...
Ok, here's what I figured out with Alaistor:
He was associating "poop" with "treat". I let him out and watched him (ugh. I sometime do have better things to do than watch my cats like a hawk 24/7, plus I believe in "trust" -- but whatever, separate rant) and caught him mid squat, picked him...
Caught him squatting on Saturday right near me. Immediately picked him up and put him on the toilet. So far, no accidents. Perhaps he just associated "poop" with treats no matter where it was? Now he's consistently going in the toilet since I did that.
Do the enzymatic cleaners make the area safe (like free of bacteria and germs) or do I have to clean with bleach first, then clean with an enzymatic cleaner?
Thanks. This is driving me up the wall (although I don't let them see it).
I've been using Clorox Bathroom Cleaner with bleach to clean up the messes. Is bleach not strong enough to clean up a pet mess?
Hi,
I should start off by saying I am TOILET training my two russian blue (mix) kittens.
There's Alaistor, who's about 7 months old, and Remus who's about 4.5-5 months old.
I'm using the CitiKitty toilet training method, following the directions exactly. I have tried emailing CitiKitty, but...
