    Stress Induced Cystitis

Hi - I have 2 cats that have idiopathic cystitis (IC) - 1 who just had all the other possibilities of FLUTD eliminated with testing. Sooo, if you can get a vet to prescribe prednisone (steroid) for the 1st 24-72 hours, that gets the initial intense flare-up calmed down. Then, I give Sub-Q...

    Online vendor for Glycosaminoglycan injectables?

Oh yes, I have copies of what there is, I think, in my extensive file on my cat health issues. lol I just mean- feline research that ultimately leads to med manufacturing "labeling" blessing their use for cats, gets the least amount of attention+funding. So some therapies sitting in the barn...

    Online vendor for Glycosaminoglycan injectables?

Yes, there's reasons. In all my years, I've had great difficulty co-managing my pets' care with veterinarians. I insist on being an active partner in the decisions made, which ruffles feathers in my experiences all these decades now. I acknowledge they of course know 100 times more than me, but...

    Online vendor for Glycosaminoglycan injectables?

Not looking for a discussion on the merits, but the last time I managed care for one of my cats with Idiopathic Cystitis/FLUTD, I used it to great therapeutic effect - "Ichon" brand. There are others, often more expensive - "Adequan", and "Chondroprotec" chief among them. Last time I purchased...

Anybody know of a good antibiotic CHART showing various uses?

I've been trying to learn of the spectrums of various classes of antibiotics, and specifically what kinds of infections they would appropriately treat. For cats (off label use for some I realize). Pills, injectables, … any and all. It's such an information jungle out there on the interwebz...

Using dog frontline flea medication for my cat?

Good grief.  Do people not read the thread contributions they are responding to? It is NOT dangerous if one is using a fipronil and S-methoprene product, as Frontline (and its knockoffs) is. Sheesh.

Moving in a month - Advice?

Wow, Norachan - that's encouraging, 9 hours eh. And Mrs. Greenjeans - that translates to about 13 and a half hours!  I'm impressed! So I practiced yesterday with the 2 "enemies" I have.  They are the only two that actively dislike each other.  Well, I should say - Navarre hates Jean Luc, and...

Using dog frontline flea medication for my cat?

Umm, huh? I thought we were simply addressing the incongruity of her scale telling her she has about 7+ mg. less product than what the manufacturer states is, by weight, in each pill?

Moving in a month - Advice?

Yes, I did read the link, thank you for pointing me there.  I am spraying the inside of the car with "Animal Relief Formula" calming spray - flower essence combo that, if I remember researching when I bought it, is very comparable to Rescue Remedy. I also am spraying the Feliway.  It seems to...

Using dog frontline flea medication for my cat?

Hi Hownowmeow- Does the packaging say "mg by weight" or "mg by volume"?  That doesn't even feel right, since if I recall correctly it is only ounces that can be converted between weight and volume.... Perhaps your scale isn't calibrated, or not sensitive enough, or moisture was drawn out...

Successful weight loss of 7.75lbs & has kept it off for 4+yrs !!!

Oh, one more thing - I just stumbled on this article listing a few medical reasons a cat might have an insatiable appetite. I'm not too fond of Pet MD and their articles, but this is pretty general. Not saying anything is medically wrong with your guy, (I have experience with a former stray...

Successful weight loss of 7.75lbs & has kept it off for 4+yrs !!!

It's easy to tell how much you love him by how you just described that. Thanks for the encouragement- I have 5 cats, one borderline anorexic and one who is very overweight. Got a few pounds off him by placing food for others high enough and he was too fat to jump. He lost 3-4 pounds, but then...

Using dog frontline flea medication for my cat?

It is usually stamped (in frustratingly small font) on the box edge somewhere, and some brands have the individual pipettes with an expiration date too. I would still use it a year or so past any sell by, but that's just me.

Moving in a month - Advice?

Hi all - I will be making a long 10 hour drive in my SUV with my 5 cats. Of course, they all hate the car, and some go into quite the panic mode - biting the metal grate of the carrier, (one even cracked a tooth), and yowling and peeing sometimes.  And that's just a 15 minute ride to the vet...

Nice Home Remedy For Conjunctivitis That Is Working!

Yep - I stand corrected.  I'm not even sure why I worded it that way, as I have in the past treated one of my cats' cardiomyopathy with a transdermal medicinal route. I might have been thinking of the claims by topical flea+tick monthly treatments that "it stays within the oil glands of the...
